Claims
- 1. An air pollution control assembly for treating a flue gas stream comprising:
a) an evaporative cooler assembly for injecting fluid across said flue gas stream, said cooler assembly including means to direct said flue gas stream; b) a reagent injection venturi assembly having converging and diverging sections and wherein a reagent is injected cocurrent with the flue gas in said converging section; and c) a baghouse assembly having an inlet and a gas distribution device positioned at said baghouse inlet, said baghouse further having a plurality of filter bags and a filter cake management system.
- 2. The air pollution control assembly of claim 1, wherein said evaporative cooler includes an injector assembly for spraying a reagent into said flue gas stream to react with acid gases in said flue gas stream.
- 3. The air pollution control assembly of claim 2, wherein said cooler assembly comprises a vessel having a wall and an inlet and wherein said inlet is constructed and arranged to turn the flow of said flue gas approximately 90 degrees whereby said gas is directed generally parallel to said vessel wall and evenly distributed across said vessel.
- 4. The air pollution control assembly of claim 3, wherein said vessel inlet includes a gas distribution system comprising a plenum having an orifice disposed approximately 90 degrees with respect to the plenum inlet flow.
- 5. The air pollution control assembly of claim 3, wherein said evaporative cooler includes a water and air injector and a reagent injector.
- 6. The air pollution control assembly of claim 3, wherein said vessel wall slopes outwardly from said inlet at a cross-sectional angle of approximately 15 degrees.
- 7. The air pollution control assembly of claim 1, wherein said reagent injection venturi assembly includes a reagent pipe having an end positioned generally centrally said flue gas stream at said converging section whereby reagent is injected cocurrent with said flue gas stream.
- 8. The air pollution control assembly of claim 1, wherein said gas distribution device of said baghouse assembly is a ladder vane baffle device.
- 9. The air pollution control assembly of claim 1, wherein said filter bags of said baghouse assembly have a surface for the accumulation of filter cake and wherein said filter cake management system includes means to measure pressure differential in said baghouse assembly.
- 10. The air pollution control assembly of claim 9, wherein said filter cake management system includes a timer to initiate bag cleaning.
- 11. An air pollution control assembly for treating a flue gas stream comprising:
a) a reagent injection venturi assembly having converging and diverging sections and wherein a fluid injector is positioned at said converging section, said fluid injector including a reagent pipe having an end positioned generally centrally of said flue gas stream at said converging section whereby reagent is injected cocurrent with said flue gas stream; and b) a baghouse assembly having an inlet and a gas distribution device positioned at said baghouse inlet, said baghouse further having a plurality of filter bags and a filter cake management system and wherein each said filter bag has a surface for the accumulation of filter cake and wherein said filter cake management system includes means to measure pressure differential across said filter bags in said baghouse assembly.
- 12. The air pollution control assembly of claim 11, wherein said fluid is a reagent for reacting to acid gases in said gas stream.
- 13. The air pollution control assembly of claim 11, wherein said gas distribution device of said baghouse assembly is a ladder vane baffle device.
- 14. The air pollution control assembly of claim 13, wherein said filter cake management system includes a timer and a pressure differential measuring means to initiate bag cleaning.
- 15. An air pollution control assembly comprising:
a) an evaporative cooler apparatus having at least one wall forming a tube-like structure, a gas flow inlet structure, said flow inlet structure having a gas stream distribution system comprised of a plenum having at least one wall flaring out from said orifice arranged at approximately a 90 degree angle from said orifice and constructed and arranged to taper outwardly at a predetermined nominal angle, said system further comprising a fluid distribution means constructed and arranged to distribute a uniform amount of fluid cocurrent with said gas; b) a reagent injection venturi comprised of at least one wall and having a central axis therethrough, said venturi comprised of a gas flow inlet wherein said at least one wall tapers inward toward said central axis to form a converging section, said at least one wall tapering to become aligned parallel with said central axis forming a straight section and said at least one wall then tapering outward away from said central axis to form a diverging section, said venturi having a reagent injection means positioned in said converging section to introduce a reagent cocurrent to said gas stream; c) a filter bag-house having a filter cake management system, said bag-house comprised of a gas flow inlet having at least one wall and having a gas distribution device, a clean air plenum and a dirty air plenum separated by a plurality of filter bags having a predetermined size, spacing, and length-to-diameter ratio, a bag cleaning mechanism having a means to monitor a pressure differential between the pressure inside the filter bags and outside the filter bags, said means to monitor pressure differential triggers the initiation of a cleaning sequence on a predetermined percentage of filter bags when said means to monitor pressure differential indicates that flow is being impeded, said bag cleaning mechanism further comprising a timer having a predetermined time period that initiates cleaning if said means to monitor pressure differential has not initiated the cleaning sequence within said predetermined time period.
- 16. An assembly for treating and removing pollutants from a gas stream comprising:
a) a plurality of gas stream flow control assemblies; b) a plurality of fluid nozzle assemblies constructed and arranged to treat said gas stream; c) a plurality of gas stream filtering assemblies for producing filter cake surfaces; and d) means to control said filter cake surfaces.
- 17. The assembly of claim 16, wherein said gas stream flow control assemblies include at least one ladder vane baffle, a plenum assembly and a venturi device.
- 18. The assembly of claim 16, wherein said fluid nozzle assemblies include a water source, a compressed air source and a reagent slurry.
- 19. The assembly of claim 16, wherein said gas stream filtering assemblies include fabric filter bags having flexible surfaces and wherein said filter bags are disposed in a series of rows.
- 20. The assembly of claim 19, wherein said means to control said filter cake surfaces include air pressure jets cooperating with each said filter bag, a timer and a pressure differential sensing device.
