The present invention generally relates to a device for a beach shade system. More specifically, the present invention presents an airfoil beach shade system to be utilized when wind is present.
Without limiting the scope of the disclosed device, the background is described in connection with an airfoil beach shade device for providing shade in conditions where wind is present.
Outdoor recreation, especially during warmer months requires relief and shelter from the sun. When windy conditions are present, difficulties may arise with securing a shade device, creating a need for a shade device that is both functional and secure when wind is present.
Traditional shade devices are stagnant and may provide adequate shade, however they can become unusable, unsecure and even dangerous when wind is present. Wind can cause a shade device to lift, blow away, fall and potentially injure its user or others nearby. Further, windy conditions are often present in locations such as beaches where a shade device is most often desired.
The present invention offers a novel alternative to traditional shade devices such as umbrellas or canopies in a transportable, lightweight, solution that is safe and effective in conditions in which wind is present. Unlike conventional shade devices that become unsecure when wind is present, the present device utilizes the wind in a unique airfoil beach shade system, fixed securely in place by a pivoting T-frame allowing the device to be used with changing wind direction and conditions.
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a secure shade device to be utilized in conditions where wind is present. It is a further object of the present invention to allow for the device to be utilized by an array of users who desire a secure shade device that is adaptable to changing wind direction and conditions.
These and other objects of the present invention are achieved by a novel beach shade system that utilizes a single pivoting T-frame that allows for self-adjusting positing of the beach shade given changing wind conditions and directions.
In an embodiment, the system is comprised of a rectangular, oblong beach shade, composed of a lightweight material. The beach shade is made up of numerous airfoils running across the vertical length of the beach shade. The beach shade then attaches on one side, along its horizontal axis to a single, pivoting, T-frame base. The opposite end of the beach shade is not fixed or attached to any base. The wind fills the airfoils and causes the beach shade to elevate and stay elevated providing shade below. The airfoils, which catch and fill with the any airflow such as wind, are large enough to encompass changes in the wind’s direction. The pivoting T-frame base allows for the device to pivot with the changing direction of the wind. The base is adjustable along the vertical access to allow for the user to adjust the height of the shade.
In a further embodiment attached to the T-frame base is a folding member, which allows for the horizontal arms of the base to fold back. The ability to fold the horizontal arms back permits ease of storage and transport of the device.
In summary, the present invention discloses a novel device for providing shade utilizing an airfoil beach shade system to be utilized when wind is present.
