Claims
- 1. An .alpha.-(isocyanatocyclohexyl)alkylisocyanate represented by the following general formula (III): ##STR21## wherein R represents hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, provided that the isocyanato group bonded to the cyclohexyl group may be in either of the 2-, 3- or 4-positions.
- 2. A method for preparing an .alpha.-(isocyanatocyclohexyl) alkylisocyanate represented by the following general formula (III): ##STR22## said method comprising the steps of (i) catalytically reducing an .alpha.-(aminophenyl)alkylamine in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst, 1 to 40% by weight water based on the weight of the .alpha.-(aminophenyl)alkylamine, and an alkali or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, wherein said .alpha.-(aminophenyl)alkylamine is represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR23## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and wherein the amino group bonded to the phenyl group is in either the 2-, 3- or 4-positions, to form an .alpha.-(aminocyclohexyl) alkylamine represented by the following general formula (II): ##STR24## wherein R is the same as that defined above, and wherein the amino group bonded to the cyclohexyl group is in either of the 2-, 3- or 4-positions, and (ii) then reacting the compound of the formula (II) with phosgene.
