Claims
- 1. An alignment member for use in a housing, the housing having interior walls defining an interior chamber, the interior chamber configured for containing a plurality of conductive blades, each of the conductive blades having first and second ends, the first ends configured for electrical communication with conductors of a cable, the second ends arrayed in a linear arrangement, wherein each of the second ends has alignment notch formed therein, said alignment member comprising:
- a locating bar configured to be arranged at least partially within the interior chamber of the housing and configured to be fixedly mounted to an interior wall of the housing, said locating bar being adapted and arranged to be received within the alignment notches formed in the second ends of the conductive blades such that engagement of said locating bar within the alignment notches maintains a linear arrangement of the second ends.
- 2. An alignment member as claimed in claim 1, wherein said locating bar has a top face, a front face and a bottom face, said faces having a plurality of slots formed therein, each of said slots extending across at least a portion of said bottom face, across said front face and across at least a portion of said top face, each of said slots being sized and shaped to receive the alignment notch of a conductive blade.
- 3. An alignment member as claimed in claim 1, wherein said locating bar has a front face having a plurality of vertically oriented spaced slots therein formed in an array extending along the length of the bar between interior walls of the housing.
- 4. An alignment member as claimed in claim 2, wherein each of said slots has a width that is greater than the width of the second end of a conductive blade such that each of said slots is configured to receive the second end of the conductive blade.
- 5. An alignment member as claimed in claim 1, wherein the alignment notch comprises a bifurcation of the second end of the conductive blade such that the notch has a top surface and a bottom surface, and wherein said alignment member is adapted and arranged to be at least partially received between the top surface and the bottom surface of the alignment notch.
- 6. A communication plug for electrically interconnecting conductors of a cable with jack springs, said communication plug comprising:
- a conductive blade carrier having a plurality of blades, each of said blades having a first end and a second end, each of said first ends configured to electrically communicate with a conductor of the cable, each of said second ends configured to electrically communicate with a jack spring and each having a locating notch formed therein, each of said second ends being spaced from each other and formed in a linear arrangement;
- a jack spring interface housing having a shell member defining an interior chamber, said shell member having an open end, a closed end and interior walls, said interior chamber being adapted to receive said conductive blade carrier therein; and
- a locating bar mounted to at least one of said interior walls adjacent said closed end of said interior chamber, said locating bar being adapted to engage said locating notches when said conductive blade carrier is inserted through said open end of said shell member and into said interior chamber such that said locating bar prevents misalignment of said second ends of said blades from said linear arrangement.
- 7. A communication plug as claimed in claim 6, wherein said locating bar has a plurality of spaced slots formed therein, each of said slots being adapted and arranged to align with one of said second ends of said blades.
- 8. A communication plug as claimed in claim 7, wherein each of said slots is of sufficient width to receive one of said second ends of said blades in a slip fit.
- 9. An alignment member as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of said slots is configured to receive the second end of a conductive blade in a slip fit.
- 10. A communication plug as claimed in claim 6, wherein said locating bar has a top face, a front face and a bottom face, said faces having a plurality of slots formed therein, each of said slots extending across at least a portion of said bottom face, across said front face and across at least a portion of said top face, each of said slots being sized and shaped to receive one of said alignment notches.
- 11. A communication plug as claimed in claim 6, wherein said locating bar has a front face having a plurality of slots formed therein, each of said slots being adapted to engage one of said locating notches.
- 12. A communication plug as claimed in claim 11, wherein each of said slots has a width that is greater than the width of a second end of a conductive blade such that each of said slots is configured to receive the second end of a conductive blade.
- 13. A jack spring interface housing for receiving a conductive blade carrier, the conductive blade carrier having a plurality of blades, the blades being configured in a linear arrangement, said jack spring interface housing comprising:
- a shell member defining an interior chamber, said interior chamber being adapted to receive a conductive blade carrier therein; and
- means for preventing misalignment of the blades of a conductive blade carrier such that when the conductive blade carrier is engaged within said interior chamber, the blades of the conductive blade carrier are retained in a linear arrangement.
