Claims
- 1. An alloy material comprising a mixture of a mineral component and a metal, said mineral component comprising plagioclase feldspar in an amount greater than 50 wt % based on the weight of the mineral component, said feldspar mainly comprising albite and anorthite minerals, said alloy material having increased tensile strength relative to said metal alone, and a higher melting point than said metal alone.
- 2. The alloy material as claimed in claim 1, wherein said mineral component further comprises a minor proportion of mica, kaolinite and serpentine in a total amount of less than 50 wt % based on the weight of the mineral component.
- 3. The alloy material as claimed in claim 1, wherein said metal is selected from the group consisting of copper, iron, steel, stainless steel, brass, titanium, cast iron, nickel, aluminum and magnesium.
- 4. The alloy material as claimed in claim 1, wherein said mineral component is used in an amount of from about 0.5 to about 25 wt %, and said metal is used in an amount of from about 75 to about 99.5 wt %.
- 5. The alloy material as claimed in claim 4, wherein said mineral component is used in an amount of from about 1to about 5 wt %, and said metal is used in an amount of from about 95 to 99 wt %.
- 6. The alloy material as claimed in claim 1, wherein said mineral component contains magnetite.
- 7. The alloy material as claimed in claim 1, wherein magnetite has been removed from said mineral component.
- 8. An alloy material produced by mixing a mineral component with a metal and heating a resulting mixture to form an alloy material, said mineral component comprising plagioclase feldspar in an amount greater than 50 wt % based on the weight of the mineral component, said feldspar mainly comprising albite and anorthite minerals, said alloy material having increased tensile strength relative to said metal alone, and a higher melting point than said metal alone.
- 9. The alloy material as claimed in claim 8, wherein said mineral component further comprises a minor proportion of mica, kaolinite and serpentine in a total amount of less than 50 wt % based on the weight of the total mineral component.
- 10. The alloy material as claimed in claim 8, wherein said metal is selected from the group consisting of copper, iron, steel, stainless steel, brass, titanium, cast iron, nickel, aluminum and magnesium.
- 11. The alloy material as claimed in claim 7, wherein said mineral component is used in an amount of from about 0.5 to about 25 wt %, and said metal is used in an amount of from about 75 to about 99.5 wt %.
- 12. The alloy material as claimed in claim 11, wherein said mineral component is used in an amount of from about 1 to about 5 wt %, and said metal is used in an amount of from about 95 to 99 wt %.
- 13. The catalytic alloy material as claimed in claim 8, wherein said mineral component contains magnetite.
- 14. The catalytic alloy material as claimed in claim 8, wherein magnetite has been removed from said mineral component.
