Claims
- 1. Aluminum methylpropylphosphinate, wherein the Cu—Kα1 X-ray diffraction pattern has the following reflections at 2θ: 8.35, 14.55, 20.55, 22.40, 23.40, 26.30, 28.95, and 32.45°.
- 2. Aluminum ethylmethylphosphinate, wherein the Cu—Kα1 X-ray diffraction pattern has the following reflections at 2θ: 9.35, 18.95, 19.55, 25.45, 26.70, 27.15, 31.70, 32.60, 34.20 and 35.50°.
- 3. Crystals which are a high temperature modification of an aluminum salt of a phosphinic acid or diphosphinic acid having substituents that are a) alkyl, b) aryl, or c) mixture of alkyl and aryl, with a fibrous needle shape form, which are formed above 150° C. under pressure in the presence of water and having at least two alkyl substituents with at least one substituent as either ethyl or propyl.
- 4. The crystals as claimed in claim 3, wherein said substituents are C1-C8 alkyl or phenyl.
- 5. The crystals as claimed in claim 3, wherein the substituents are C1-C4 alkyl.
- 6. The crystals as claimed in claim 3, wherein the substituents are methyl, ethyl, propyl, or phenyl.
- 7. The crystals as claimed in claim 3, wherein the crystals have a ratio of width to length of less than 0.2.
- 8. The crystals as claimed in claim 7, wherein said ratio of width to length of less than about 0.1
- 9. The crystals as claimed in claim 3, wheren the crystals have a width in the range from about 0.2 to 1.5 μm.
- 10. The crystals as claimed in claim 6, wherein the crystals have a ratio of width to length of less than 0.2.
- 11. The crystals as claimed in claim 10, wherein said ratio of width to length of less than about 0.1.
- 12. The crystals as claimed in claim 11, wherein the crystals have a width in the range of from about 0.2 to 1.5 μm.
- 13. A flame proofing agent for plastics which comprises the crystals as claimed in claim 3.
- 14. A flame proofing agent for plastics which comprises the crystals as claimed in claim 4.
- 15. A flame proofing agent for plastics which comprises the crystals as claimed in claim 5.
- 16. A flame proofing agent for plastics which comprises the crystals as claimed in claim 6.
- 17. A flame proofing agent for plastics which comprises the crystals as claimed in claim 1.
- 18. A flame proofing agent for plastics which comprises the crystals as claimed in claim 2.
- 19. The crystals as claimed in claim 3, wherein ssaid substituents have two alkyl substituents with at least one substituent as either ethyl or propyl.
- 20. The crystals as claimed in claim 19, wherein said at least one substituent is ethyl.
- 21. The crystals as claimed in claim 19, wherein said at least one subtituent is propyl.
