Claims
- 1. A compound represented by the formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof: ##STR44## wherein Ar.sup.1 is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a lower alkyl group, a lower hydroxyalkyl group, a lower alkylene group and a group represented by --NR.sup.a R.sup.b ; each of R.sup.a and R.sup.b which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; each of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 which are the same or different, is a lower alkyl group, or both of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are bonded to each other to form an alkylene group which may have an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom interposed, said alkylene group being a group which may be substituted by one or two lower alkyl groups; R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom, or a lower alkyl group which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group, an amino group, a carbamoyl group and a lower alkoxycarbonyl group; Ar.sup.2 is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group, a lower haloalkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkylthio group, a lower hydroxyalkyl group, a lower alkoxy-lower alkyl group, a group represented by --NR.sup.c R.sup.d and a group represented by --NR.sup.e --CO--NR.sup.f R.sup.g ; R.sup.c is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.d is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a group represented by --CO--R.sup.h or --SO.sub.2 --R.sup.i, or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group and a lower alkoxy group; each of R.sup.e and R.sup.f which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.g is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group, or an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group and a lower alkoxy group; R.sup.h is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkoxy-lower alkyloxy group, a lower alkenyloxy group, a lower alkynyloxy group, or a group represented by --O--(CH.sub.2).sub.n -Het; R.sup.i is a lower alkyl group, or a lower alkenyl group; Het is a heterocyclic group; n is an integer of from 1 to 3; W is an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or a group represented by --CHR.sup.j -- or --NR.sup.k --; and each of R.sup.j and R.sup.k which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, or a lower alkyl group.
- 2. The compound according to claim 1, which is a compound represented by the formula (I-a): ##STR45## wherein Ar.sup.1aa is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a lower alkyl group and a group represented by --NR.sup.a R.sup.b ; each of R.sup.a and R.sup.b which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.4aa which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; each of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 which are the same or different, is a lower alkyl group, or both of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are bonded to each other to form an alkylene group which may have an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom interposed, said alkylene group being a group which may be substituted by one or two lower alkyl groups; Ar.sup.2aa is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group, a lower haloalkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a group represented by --NR.sup.c R.sup.d and a group represented by --NR.sup.e --CO--NR.sup.f R.sup.g ; R.sup.c is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.d is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a group represented by --CO--R.sup.h or --SO.sub.2 --R.sup.i, or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group and a lower alkoxy group; each of R.sup.e and R.sup.f which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.g is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group, or an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group and a lower alkoxy group; R.sup.h is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkoxy-lower alkyloxy group, a lower alkenyloxy group, a lower alkynyloxy group, or a group represented by --O--(CH.sub.2).sub.n -Het; R.sup.i is a lower alkyl group, or a lower alkenyl group; Het is a heterocyclic group; n is an integer of from 1 to 3; W is an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or a group represented by --CHR.sup.j -- or --NR.sup.k --; and each of R.sup.j and R.sup.k which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, or a lower alkyl group.
- 3. The compound according to claim 1, wherein the aromatic heterocyclic group for Ar.sup.1 is a furyl group, a thienyl group, an imidazolyl group, a thiazolyl group, an oxazolyl group, a triazolyl group, an oxadiazolyl group, a thiadiazolyl group, a pyridyl group, a pyrimidinyl group, a pyridazinyl group or a benzothiazolyl group.
- 4. The compound according to claim 1, wherein the aromatic heterocyclic group for Ar.sup.1 is a thienyl group, an imidazolyl group, a thiazolyl group, a triazolyl group, an oxadiazolyl group, a thiadiazolyl group, a pyridyl group, a pyrimidinyl group or a pyridazinyl group.
- 5. The compound according to claim 1, wherein both of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are bonded to each other to form an alkylene group which may have an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom interposed, said alkylene group being a group which may be substituted by one or two lower alkyl groups.
- 6. The compound according to claim 5, wherein the alkylene group which may have an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom interposed, is a group which forms a morpholino group together with the adjacent nitrogen atom.
- 7. The compound according to claim 1, wherein Ar.sup.2 is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower haloalkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkylthio group, a lower hydroxyalkyl group, a lower alkoxy-lower alkyl group, a group represented by --NR.sup.c R.sup.d and a group represented by --NR.sup.e --CO--NR.sup.f R.sup.g.
- 8. The compound according to claim 1, wherein Ar.sup.2 is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower haloalkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a group represented by --NR.sup.c R.sup.d and a group represented by --NR.sup.e --CO--NR.sup.f R.sup.g.
- 9. The compound according to claim 1, wherein the aryl group for Ar.sup.2 is a phenyl group.
- 10. The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.c is a hydrogen atom, and R.sup.d is a group represented by --CO--R.sup.h.
- 11. The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.c is a hydrogen atom, and the heterocyclic group for R.sup.d is an oxazolyl group or a thiazolinyl group.
- 12. The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.e and R.sup.f are the same and hydrogen atoms, and R.sup.g is a lower alkenyl group.
- 13. The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.h is a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkenyloxy group or a lower alkynyloxy group.
- 14. The compound according to claim 1, wherein W is a sulfur atom.
- 15. The compound according to claim 1, wherein W is a group represented by --CHR.sup.j --.
- 16. A pharmaceutical composition for hyperphagia, obesity or diabetes, which comprises a compound represented by the formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, as an active ingredient: ##STR46## wherein Ar.sup.1 is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a lower alkyl group, a lower hydroxyalkyl group, a lower alkylene group and a group represented by --NR.sup.a R.sup.b ; each of R.sup.a and R.sup.b which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; each of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 which are the same or different, is a lower alkyl group, or both of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are bonded to each other to form an alkylene group which may have an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom interposed, said alkylene group being a group which may be substituted by one or two lower alkyl groups; R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom, or a lower alkyl group which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group, an amino group, a carbamoyl group and a lower alkoxycarbonyl group; Ar.sup.2 is an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group, a lower haloalkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkylthio group, a lower hydroxyalkyl group, a lower alkoxy-lower alkyl group, a group represented by --NR.sup.c R.sup.d and a group represented by --NR.sup.e --CO--NR.sup.f R.sup.g ; R.sup.c is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.d is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a group represented by --CO--R.sup.h or --SO.sub.2 --R.sup.i, or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group and a lower alkoxy group; each of R.sup.e and R.sup.f which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.g is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group, or an aryl group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, which may be substituted by a group selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkyl group and a lower alkoxy group; R.sup.h is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a lower alkoxy-lower alkyloxy group, a lower alkenyloxy group, a lower alkynyloxy group, or a group represented by --O--(CH.sub.2).sub.n -Het; R.sup.i is a lower alkyl group, or a lower alkenyl group; Het is a heterocyclic group; n is an integer of from 1 to 3; W is an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or a group represented by --CHR.sup.j -- or --NR.sup.k --; and each of R.sup.j and R.sup.k which are the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, or a lower alkyl group.
- 17. A process for treating hyperphagia, obesity or diabetes, which comprises administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of the compound according to claim 1.
