Claims
- 1. A method of treating obesity comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a compound of the formula III
- HN.dbd.C(NH.sub.2)--NH--N.dbd.CR.sup.3 --COOH
- wherein R.sup.3 is H, methyl, ethyl, benzyl or n-hexyl.
- 2. A method of treating obesity comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a compound that is selected from the group consisting of:
- [(aminoiminomethyl)hydrazino]acetic acid, monohydrochloride;
- 2-[(aminoiminomethyl)hydrazino]propanoic acid, monohydrochloride;
- 2-[(aminoiminomethyl)hydrazino]butanoic acid, monohydrochloride;
- .alpha.-[(aminoiminomethyl)hydrazino]benezenepropanoic acid; and
- 2-[(aminoiminomethyl)hydrazino]octanoic acid.
- 3. A method of treating obesity comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a compound that is N-(hydrazinoimomethyl)glycine or its hydrochloride (2:1).
- 4. The method of claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein said compound is administered to the patient by an oral, parenteral, intranasal, buccal, sublingual, intrarectal, or transdermal route of administration.
- 5. The method of claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein said compound is administered to the patient by an oral route.
- 6. The method of claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein said compound is administered to the patient in an amount of between 0.1 and 100 mg/kg body weight daily.
- 7. The method of claim 1, 2 or 3, wherein said compound is administered to the patient in an amount of 1-50 mg/kg/day.
- 8. The method of claim 4, wherein said compound is administered to the patient in an amount of between 0.1 and 100 mg/kg body weight daily.
- 9. The method of claim 5, wherein said compound is administered to the patient in an amount of between 0.1 and 100 mg/kg body weight daily.
- 10. The method of claim 4, wherein said compound is administered to the patient in an amount of 1-50 mg/kg/day.
- 11. The method of claim 5, wherein said compound is administered to the patient in an amount of 1-50 mg/kg/day.
