- wherein said passenger car includes (1) a car body including seats for seating passengers, (2) a running wheel assembly including wheels for engaging upper, lower and lateral portions respectively of the rails of said track, and
- wherein said auxiliary track transfers said car from said releasing section to said car receiving section.
- 2. An amusement ride as defined in claim 1,
- wherein said device comprises:
- a transfer wheel assembly mounted on said passenger car, comprising wheels for engaging upper, lower and lateral portions, respectively, of the rails of said auxiliary track when said car is in said missing portion.
- 3. An amusement ride as defined in claim 2, wherein the trajectory of said auxiliary track is parallel to said track.
- 4. An amusement ride as defined in claim 2, wherein the car comprises a wheel mounting frame on a top of the car, and the transfer wheel assembly is mounted to the wheel mounting frame.
- 5. An amusement ride as defined in claim 1, wherein said auxiliary track is movable from a first position out of view of passengers in said car, to a second position for guiding the passenger car over the missing portion.
- 6. An amusement ride as defined in claim 1, further comprising:
- a transfer vehicle for reciprocating on said auxiliary track from a first position adjacent said car releasing section to a second position adjacent said car receiving portion, to transfer said passenger car from said car releasing section to said car receiving section, the transfer vehicle having a car-relay mechanism for receiving said passenger car at said car releasing section and releasing said passenger car at said car receiving section.
- 7. An amusement ride as defined in claim 6, wherein said running wheel assembly is connected to the car body, constructed to engage the track, to release the track at the car releasing section and to re-engage the track at the car receiving section; and
- wherein said transfer vehicle comprises:
- a relay rail for receiving said running wheel assembly;
- a trestle connected to and supporting the relay rail; and
- a transfer vehicle wheel assembly connected to the trestle and for engaging the auxiliary track.
- 8. An amusement ride as defined in claim 7, wherein said transfer vehicle further comprises a drive mechanism for driving said transfer vehicle on said auxiliary track, a detecting mechanism for detecting a position of said passenger car and producing a detection signal, and a control device responsive to the detection signal for thereby controlling said drive mechanism to reciprocate said transfer vehicle.
- 9. An amusement ride as defined in claim 8, wherein:
- said detecting mechanism operates to detect a position as well as a traveling speed of said passenger car to produce position and speed detection signals, and
- said control device operates to control said drive mechanism based on the position and speed detection signals.
- 10. An amusement ride as defined in claim 6, wherein said running wheel assembly is connected to the car body, constructed to engage the track, to release the track at the car releasing section and to re-engage the track at the car receiving section;
- a second wheel assembly below said running wheel assembly; and
- wherein said transfer vehicle comprises
- a relay rail for receiving said second wheel assembly,
- a trestle connected to and supporting the relay rail, and
- a transfer vehicle wheel assembly connected to the trestle and for engaging the auxiliary track.
- 11. An amusement ride as defined in claim 10, wherein said transfer vehicle further comprises a drive mechanism for driving said transfer vehicle on said auxiliary track, a detecting mechanism for detecting a position of said passenger car and producing a detection signal, and a control device responsive to the detection signal for thereby controlling said drive mechanism to reciprocate said transfer vehicle.
- 12. An amusement ride as defined in claim 11, wherein:
- said detecting mechanism operates to detect a position as well as a traveling speed of said passenger car, and
- said control device operates to control said drive mechanism based on a position detection signal and a speed detection signal from said detecting mechanism.
- 13. An amusement ride as defined in claim 7, comprising:
- a driving arm connected to said trestle;
- a drive mechanism for driving said driving arm to drive the transfer vehicle on said auxiliary track;
- a detecting mechanism for detecting a position of said passenger car and producing a detection signal; and
- a control device responsive to the detection signal for thereby controlling said drive mechanism to reciprocate said transfer vehicle.
- 14. An amusement ride as defined in claim 10, comprising:
- a driving arm connected to said trestle;
- a drive mechanism for driving said driving arm to drive the transfer vehicle on said auxiliary track;
- a detecting mechanism for detecting a position of said passenger car and producing a detection signal; and
- a control device responsive to the detection signal for thereby controlling said drive mechanism to reciprocate said transfer vehicle.
- 15. An amusement ride as defined in claim 1, wherein said auxiliary track is supported pivotally to pivot between a first position connected to said car releasing section and a second position connected to said car receiving section.
- 16. An amusement ride as defined in claim 15, wherein said device further comprises:
- drive mechanism for driving said auxiliary track between said first and second positions;
- a detecting mechanism for detecting a position of said passenger car and producing a detection signal; and
- a control device responsive to the detection signal for controlling the position of the auxiliary track.
- 17. An amusement ride as defined in claim 16, wherein said detecting mechanism operates to detect a position as well as a traveling speed of said passenger car and to produce a first position signal and a second speed signal, and
- said control device operates to control said drive mechanism in response to said first and second signals.
