Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR64## wherein the wavy line (.about.) at the 1-position of the cycloaliphatic ring denotes trans-stereoconfiguration of the 1-position substituent with respect to the substituent in position 2 of the same cycloaliphatic ring; n is 1 to 8;
- R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl;
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, taken separately, are hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl, or when R.sub.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl, R.sub.2 is C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 -alkyl, CH.sub.2 CF.sub.3, -C.sub.3 to C.sub.6 -(allylic)alkenyl, a group of the formula ##STR65## wherein T is --O-- or --S--; C.sub.2 to C.sub.5 -hydroxyalkyl, phenyl-C.sub.2 to C.sub.3 -alkyl, C.sub.3 to C.sub.6 -cycloalkyl, C.sub.3 to C.sub.4 -cycloalkylmethyl, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, taken together with the nitrogen to which they are bonded, complete an azetidinyl, pyrrolidinyl, piperidinyl, or piperizinyl ring group, or an azetidinyl or pyrrolidinyl ring group substituted in the 3-position with hydroxy, C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyloxy, C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkanoyloxy, a piperidinyl ring group substituted in the 3- or 4- position with hydroxy, C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 alkyloxy, or C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkanoyloxy or a piperazinyl ring group substituted on the p-nitrogen thereof with C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl,
- Q is the radical ##STR66## wherein one of X, Y and Z is azido, and the remaining X, Y and Z moieties are hydrogen, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein
- the compound n is 1 to 4;
- R is C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl;
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 -alkyl; and
- Q is ##STR67## wherein X is azido and Y and Z are hydrogen, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
- 3. A compound according to claim 2 wherein the compound is trans-N-methyl-N-[2-(N',N'-dimethylamino)cycloheptyl]-4-azidobenzamide, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
- 4. A compound according to claim 2 wherein the compound is trans-N-methyl-N-[2-(N',N'-dimethylamino)cyclohexyl]-4-azidobenzamide, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
- 5. A composition useful in pharmaceutical dosage unit form in an amount ranging from about 0.5 to about 350 mg. per dosage unit for alleviating pain in warm blooded animals which comprises a compound of Formula I of claim 1 in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 6. A composition according to claim 5 wherein the compound of formula I is a compound of claim 2.
- 7. A composition according to claim 6 wherein the compound of formula I is a compound of claim 3.
- 8. A composition according to claim 6 wherein the compound of formula I is a compound of claim 4.
- 9. A method for alleviating pain in a warm blooded animal which comprises administering to the warm blooded animal suffering pain a compound of formula I in claim 1 in an amount effective to relieve the pain.
- 10. A method according to claim 9 wherein the compound of formula I in claim 1 is administered in an amount between about 0.5 to 350 mg. per dose in a pharmaceutical carrier.
