- c) a pump connected to said tube for pumping water from said primary container;
- d) a reservoir located above said primary container for holding pumped water, said second end of said tube being positioned to deposit pumped water in said reservoir when said pump pumps water from said primary container;
- e) a lip attached to said reservoir which releases water into said primary container from a predetermined height above said primary container, wherein said pumped water is made to substantially free fall into said primary container through said open top; and
- f) a secondary container hydraulically connected to said primary container wherein said secondary reservoir is adapted to store a non-circulating reserve of water and to allow gravity to cause secondary water to flow from said secondary container into said primary container and thereby add secondary water to said primary container separate from the pumped water deposited by said reservoir and lip into said primary container.
- 5. The watering device of claim 4 wherein the secondary reservoir has a flow regulator member adapted to cooperate with gravity to automatically add said secondary water to said primary container when water falls below a predetermined level in said primary container.
- 6. The watering device of claim 5 wherein the secondary reservoir includes an inverted bottle and the flow regulator member includes a narrowed water passage member having a first end section hydraulically communicating with the lower end of the inverted bottle and a second end section hydraulically communicating with the primary container.
- 7. A watering device for watering animals, comprising in combination:
- a) a primary container for storing water in a position where an animal may drink from said primary container, said container having an exterior wall defining an open top;
- b) a water release means positioned a predetermined height above said primary container for causing release water to substantially free fall into said primary container in a detached stream through said open top;
- c) a fluid transportation means hydraulically connected to said primary container and to said water release device for transporting container water from said container to said water release means; and
- d) a secondary container and a secondary water passage separate from said water release means and hydraulically connected to said primary container and secondary container wherein said secondary container is adapted to store a non-circulating reserve of water and to allow gravity to cause secondary water to flow from said secondary container through said secondary water passage into said primary container and thereby add secondary water to said primary container.
- 8. The watering device of claim 7 wherein the secondary reservoir is adapted to cooperate with gravity to automatically add said secondary water from said secondary reservoir to said primary container when container water falls below a predetermined level in the primary container.
- 9. The watering device of claim 8 wherein the secondary reservoir includes an inverted bottle and a narrowed water passage member having a first end section hydraulically communicating with the lower end of the inverted bottle and a second end section hydraulically communicating with the primary container.
- 10. A watering device for watering animals comprising:
- a) a primary container adapted to hold water, said primary container having a wall defining an opening;
- b) an outlet ramp positioned above said primary container, said outlet ramp being adapted to release water into said opening in said primary container in substantially a free falling manner;
- c) a pump hydraulically connected to said primary container and said outlet ramp for transporting water from said primary container to said water outlet ramp, wherein water is made to substantially free fall from said outlet ramp into said primary container; and
- d) a secondary reservoir adapted to store a non-circulating reserve of water and to cooperate with gravity to cause water to automatically flow from said secondary reservoir to said primary container when the water in said watering device falls below a level sufficient to prevent gravity from causing water to exit the secondary reservoir and enter said primary container.
- 11. The watering device of claim 10 wherein the secondary reservoir includes a narrowed secondary water passage in hydraulic communication with the primary container.
- 12. The watering device of claim 11 wherein the secondary reservoir includes an inverted bottle and the narrowed secondary water passage includes a narrowed tubular member extending from the lower end of the bottle.
- 13. A method of watering animals comprising the following steps:
- a) transporting water from a container having an exterior wall defining an open top to a water release means, the water release means being located above the container;
- b) releasing water from the water release means wherein water is made to fall in a substantially free falling manner into the container through the open top;
- c) allowing an animal free access to drink falling water or water in the container, wherein an animal may drink from the falling water;
- d) storing water in an inverted bottle secondary reservoir, the secondary reservoir being hydraulically connected to the primary reservoir by a water passage, wherein water stored in the inverted bottle does not circulate; and
