Claims
- 1. A process comprising mixing, in any order, water, at least one anionic water-soluble polymer, at least one kosmotropic salt, and at least one cationic organic salt, to form an aqueous composition comprising at least one precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer, wherein said salts are used in amounts effective to precipitate said at least one anionic water-soluble polymer.
- 2. A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer contains recurring units having anionic groups selected from the group consisting of carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid salt, sulfonic acid, and sulfonic acid salt.
- 3. A process as claimed in claim 2, wherein said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer further contains recurring (meth)acrylamide units.
- 4. A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein some or all of said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer is precipitated as a polymer dispersion.
- 5. A process as claimed in claim 1 which comprises further mixing in a water-soluble polymer different from said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer.
- 6. A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein said aqueous composition contains water in an amount of from 0.1% to 20%, by weight, based on total weight.
- 7. A process comprising polymerizing at least one anionic monomer to form an anionic water-soluble polymer, in an aqueous solution comprised of at least one cationic organic salt and at least one kosmotropic salt, wherein said salts are used in amounts effective to precipitate said polymer and form a precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer in an aqueous composition.
- 8. A process as claimed in claim 7 wherein said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer contains recurring units having anionic groups selected from the group consisting of carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid salt, sulfonic acid, and sulfonic acid salt.
- 9. A process as claimed in claim 8, wherein said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer further contains recurring (meth)acrylamide units.
- 10. A process as claimed in claim 7 wherein some or all of said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer is precipitated as a polymer dispersion.
- 11. A process as claimed in claim 7 wherein said aqueous composition is further comprised of a water-soluble polymer different from said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer.
- 12. A process as claimed in claim 7 wherein said aqueous composition contains water in an amount of from 0.1% to 20%, by weight, based on total weight.
- 13. A composition comprised of water, at least one anionic water-soluble polymer, at least one kosmotropic salt, and at least one cationic organic salt, wherein said salts are used in amounts effective to precipitate said polymer and form a precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer.
- 14. A composition as claimed in claim 13, wherein said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer contains recurring units having anionic groups selected from the group consisting of carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid salt, sulfonic acid, and sulfonic acid salt.
- 15. A composition as claimed in claim 14, wherein said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer further contains recurring (meth)acrylamide units.
- 16. A composition as claimed in claim 13, wherein some or all of said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer is precipitated as a polymer dispersion.
- 17. A composition as claimed in claim 13, which is further comprised of a water-soluble polymer different from said precipitated anionic water-soluble polymer.
- 18. A composition as claimed in claim 13, wherein said water is present in an amount of from 0.1% to 20%, by weight, based on total weight.
