- receiving a call allowed to pass to said system controller station and a particular reference number corresponding to a particular subscriber at a corresponding particular subscriber station, the particular reference number being included within the telephone number of said particular subscriber station;
- matching said particular reference number with the corresponding telephone number of said particular subscriber station; and
- recording a message from a caller at said caller station in communication with said system controller station.
- 2. The method of claim 1, and further comprising the steps of:
- recording messages of subscribers;
- playing a message recorded by said particular subscriber to the caller in communication with the system controller station if the caller calls during the inactive time period of the particular subscriber;
- receiving a command from the caller indicating the desire of the caller in communication with the system controller station to be connected with the particular subscriber; and
- calling the particular subscriber and connecting the caller with the particular subscriber.
- 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the messages recorded by the subscribers are advertisement messages.
- 4. The method of claim 2, wherein the messages recorded by the subscribers are advertisement messages recorded on an interactive telephone system.
- 5. A method of enabling communication between a caller and a subscriber over public telephone lines controlled by a public telephone company central switching station having call forwarding capabilities, the method comprising the steps of:
- providing a plurality of system controller telephone numbers for a system controller station, each such number including an embedded subscriber identifier;
- storing at said system controller station telephone numbers of subscribers and indexing said subscriber telephone numbers to corresponding subscriber identifiers;
- storing at said system controller station subscriber availability and non-availability information for each of said subscribers;
- accessing the central switching station for activating the call forwarding feature at the central switching station for each of said subscribers according to the availability information for forwarding calls directly to each of said subscribers at the respective subscriber stations and for deactivating the call forwarding feature at the central switching station for each of said subscribers according to the non-availability information of each subscriber for allowing calls to pass to the system controller station;
- receiving a call corresponding to one of said system controller telephone numbers, the received call allowed to pass to the system controller station, whereby the system controller telephone number called includes a particular embedded subscriber identifier corresponding to a particular telephone number of a particular subscriber;
- matching said particular subscriber identifier with the corresponding telephone number of said particular subscriber station; and
- recording a message from said caller at said caller station in communication with said system controller station.
- 6. The method of claim 5, wherein the recorded message includes a call-back reference number of said caller station that is indexed to a stored telephone number of said caller station.
- 7. The method of claim 5, and further comprising the step of continuously monitoring the status of the availability and non-availability information of subscribers and selectively performing the step of accessing the central switching station according to the availability and non-availability information.
- 8. The method of claim 5, wherein the step of accessing the central switching station includes activating the call forwarding feature by a method comprising the steps of:
- calling the central switching station;
- supplying a call forwarding activation code to the central switching station; and
- supplying the actual telephone number of the subscriber to which the call is to be forwarded to the central switching station.
- 9. The method of claim 8, and further comprising the step of supplying to the central switching station a subscriber reference number corresponding to the subscriber to which the call is to be forwarded.
- 10. The method of claim 5, wherein the step of accessing the central switching station includes de-activating the call forwarding feature by a method comprising the steps of:
- calling the central switching station; and
- supplying a call forwarding deactivating code to the central switching station together with a subscriber reference telephone number for de-activating call forwarding with respect to the subscriber reference telephone number.
- 11. The method of claim 10, and further comprising the step of supplying a subscriber reference number corresponding to the subscriber to which calls are not to be forwarded.
- 12. A system for anonymously connecting a caller to a subscriber over public telephone lines controlled by a telephone company central switching station having a call forwarding feature, the system comprising:
- system controller means having a plurality of system controller telephone numbers, each such number including an embedded reference number of a subscriber;
- memory means for indexing subscriber reference numbers to telephone numbers of corresponding subscribers and for storing availability information and non-availability information for each of said subscribers;
- means for communicating with said system controller means via the public telephone lines;
- means for accessing the central switching station for activating the call forwarding feature at the central switching station for each of said subscribers according to the availability information for forwarding calls directly to each of said subscribers at respective subscriber stations and for de-activating the call forwarding feature at the central switching station for each of said subscribers according to the non-availability information for allowing calls to pass to the system controller means;
- means for receiving a call to one of said system controller telephone numbers allowed to pass to the system controller means, whereby the telephone number called includes a particular embedded reference number of a particular subscriber;
- means for matching the particular embedded reference number to the telephone number of the particular subscriber; and
- means for recording a message from said caller at a caller station in communication with said system controller means.
- 13. The system of claim 12, and further comprising:
- means for storing a telephone number of the caller station and indexing the telephone number to a call-back reference number of said caller station;
- means for playing back said message to said particular subscriber; and
- means for enabling anonymous communication between said particular subscriber and said caller on the basis of said call-back reference number of said caller station.
- 14. The system of claim 12, wherein the system controller means continuously monitors the status of the availability and non-availability information of subscribers for controlling the means for accessing the central switching station according to the availability and non-availability information.
- 15. The system of claim 12, wherein said means for accessing calls the central switching station, supplies a call forwarding activation code to the central switching station together with a subscriber reference telephone number indicative of a number from which the call is to be forwarded, and supplies to the central switching station the actual telephone number of the subscriber to which the call is to be forwarded.
- 16. The system of claim 15, wherein said means for accessing supplies a subscriber reference number to the central switching station for activating call forwarding for the subscriber corresponding to the subscriber reference number.
- 17. The system of claim 12, wherein said means for accessing the central switching station for deactivating the call forwarding feature, calls the central switching station, and supplies a call forwarding deactivation code to the central switching station.
- 18. The system of claim 17, wherein said means for accessing the central switching station for deactivating the call forwarding feature, supplies a subscriber reference number to the central switching station for deactivating call forwarding with respect to the subscriber corresponding to the subscriber reference number.
- 19. The system of claim 12, and further comprising:
- means for recording messages of subscribers;
- means for playing a message recorded by said particular subscriber to the caller in communication with the system controller means if the caller calls during inactive time period of the particular subscriber;
