Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each a hydrogen atom or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together form a methylene group, each X is a bromo, iodo or tosyloxy group and the dotted bonds indicate that the central --CHR.sub.1 --CHR.sub.2 -- linkage is attached to the two phenyl rings at positions which are either meta to both CH.sub.2 X groups or para to both CH.sub.2 X groups.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together form a methylene group and the central cyclopropylene linkage is para to both CH.sub.2 X groups.
- 3. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each a hydrogen atom and the central ethylene linkage is meta to both CH.sub.2 X groups.
- 4. A compound according to claim 1 wherein each X is a bromine atom.
- 5. A compound according to claim 2 wherein each X is a bromine atom.
- 6. The compound according to claim 3 wherein each X is a bromine atom, namely 2,2'-ethylenebis[6-(bromomethyl)-p-benzoquinone].
