Claims
- 1. An antibacterial composition comprising the sulfonamide of the formula ##STR5## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof with a strong base and a sulfonamide potentiator of the formula ##STR6## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are lower alkoxy and R.sup.3 is (lower alkyl)-amino or di(lower alkyl)amino, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, wherein the weight ratio of sulfonamide to sulfonamide potentiator is in the range of from 1:1 to 40:1.
- 2. A composition in accordance with claim 1, wherein the weight ratio of sulfonamide to sulfonamide potentiator is 5:1.
- 3. A composition in accordance with claim 1, wherein the sulfonamide potentiator is 2,4-diamino-5-[4-(dimethylamino)-3,5-dimethoxybenzyl]pyrimidine.
- 4. A composition in accordance with claim 1, wherein the sulfonamide potentiator is 2,4-diamino-5-[4-(ethylamino)-3,5-dimethoxybenzyl]pyrimidine.
