Claims
- 1. An oral composition suitable for administering to an animal comprising an orally acceptable carrier in admixture with a substantially pure culture of a strain of L. acidophilus having the identifying characteristics of ATCC No. 55221, in an amount sufficient to enhance the feed conversion of said animal over time.
- 2. A method for enhancing weight gain of an animal, which comprises administering to said animal a substantially pure culture of L. acidophilus having the identifying characteristics of ATCC No. 55221 in an amount effective to increase feed conversion of the animal.
