Claims
- 1. A composition comprising a purified antibody conjugated with at least one antibiotic, the antibody having an antigen-binding portion that binds at least one antigen derived from Staphylococcus or Streptococcus.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antigen-binding portion specifically binds at least one antigen derived from Staphylococcus.
- 3. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antigen-binding portion specifically binds at least one antigen derived from Streptococcus.
- 4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibody comprises both a Fab portion and a Fc portion.
- 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibody comprises a Fab portion but lacks both (a) a constant region that reacts with a bacterial Fc-binding protein and (b) an effector region capable of mediating an immune response.
- 6. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibiotic is selected from the group consisting of chloramphenicol, erythromycin, lincomycin, fusidic acid, streptomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, a tetracycline, a polymyxin, fosfomycin, vancomycin, ristocetin, bacitracin, gramacidin, a penicillin, and a cephalosporin.
- 7. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibiotic is an antimetabolite.
- 8. The composition of claim 7, wherein the antimetabolite is selected from the group consisting of a sulfonamide and trimethoprim.
- 9. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibiotic is a small molecule toxin.
- 10. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibiotic is a radioactive compound.
- 11. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibiotic is a nucleoside analogue.
- 12. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibiotic is covalently bonded to the antibody.
- 13. The composition of claim 1, wherein the antibiotic is non-covalently associated with the antibody.
- 14. The composition of claim 14, wherein the antibody is conjugated to a liposome loaded with the antibiotic.
