Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR20## or a physiologically acceptable salt or stereoisomer thereof in which A is oxygen or sulfur; R is hydrogen, loweralkyl, lowercycloalkylloweralkyl, loweralkenyl, loweralkynyl, loweralkanoyl, lowercycloalkylloweralkanoyl, lowercycloalkylcarbonyl, cyanoloweralkyl, --COOR.sub.1 or --R.sub.2 PhZ; R.sub.1 is loweralkyl, loweralkenyl or --CH.sub.2 CCl.sub.3 ; R.sub.2 is loweralkylene, oxyloweralkylene, loweralkylenecarbonyl, carbonylloweralkylene or alkylene ethylene ketal; Ph is phenyl or phenylene; Z is hydrogen, halogen, loweralkyl, loweralkoxy, hydroxy, nitro or amino; and X and Y are the same or different and each can be hydrogen, loweralkyl, loweralkoxy, halogen, nitro, amino, acetamido, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy, benzyloxy, loweralkanoyloxy, or cyano.
- 2. The cis isomer of the compound defined in claim 1.
- 3. The trans isomer of the compound defined in claim 1.
- 4. The compound defined in claim 1 wherein A is oxygen.
- 5. The compound defined in claim 4 wherein R is hydrogen.
- 6. The compound defined in claim 4 wherein R is methyl.
- 7. The compound defined in claim 4 wherein R is R.sub.2 PhZ.
- 8. The compound as defined in claim 1 wherein A is sulfur.
- 9. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenyl-4-(4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)piperidine.
- 10. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-3-phenyl-1-(2,2,2-trichloroethoxycarbonyl)-4-(4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)piperidine.
- 11. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(4-nitrophenoxy)-3-phenyl-1-vinyloxycarbonylpiperidine.
- 12. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-chlorophenoxy)-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 13. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-chlorophenoxy)-3-phenyl-1-phenylacetylpiperidine.
- 14. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-ethoxycarbonyl-4-(3-methoxyphenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 15. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-cyclopropylcarbonyl-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 16. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 17. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-bromophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 18. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(3-hydroxyphenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 19. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-benzyloxyphenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 20. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 21. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenyl-1-phenylacetylpiperidine.
- 22. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 23. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-1-phenethyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 24. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 25. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-methyl-3-phenyl-4-(4-tolyloxy)piperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 26. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-acetoxyphenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 27. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-1-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 28. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-allyl-4-(4-fluorophenoxy-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 29. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-ethoxycarbonyl-4-(3-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 30. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(2-chlorophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 31. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(3-fluorophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 32. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(2-fluorophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 33. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(4-bromophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 34. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenyl-4-(2-tolyloxy)piperidine.
- 35. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(4-bromophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 36. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-cyclopropylcarbonyl-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 37. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-cyclopropylmethyl-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 38. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-cyclopropylmethyl-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 39. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(3-bromophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 40. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-(2-cyanoethyl)-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 41. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-methyl-3-phenyl-4-(2-tolyoxy)piperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 42. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4bromophenoxy)-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 43. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(4-bromophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 44. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-(4-iodophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 45. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-(4-iodophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 46. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(2-bromophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 47. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(2-bromophenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 48. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-4-(3-acetoxyphenoxy)-1-methyl-3-phenylpiperidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 49. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-ethoxycarbonyl-4-(4-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 50. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenyl-4-(4-tolyloxy)piperidine.
- 51. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-4-(2-chlorophenoxy)-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 52. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-1-ethoxycarbonyl-4-(2-fluorophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 53. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is cis-(4-(4-bromophenoxy)-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 54. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-ethoxycarbonyl-4-(4-nitrophenoxy)-3-phenylpiperidine.
- 55. The compound as defined in claim 4 which is trans-1-(3-p-fluorobenzoyl)propyl-3-phenyl-4-(4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)piperidine ethylene ketal or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 56. An antidepressive composition which comprises an effective antidepressant amount of the compound defined in claim 1, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier thereof.
- 57. An analgesic composition which comprises an effective analgesic amount of the compound defined in claim 1, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 58. A method of treating depression in a patient which comprises administering to said patient an effective antidepressive amount of the compound defined in claim 1.
- 59. The method as defined in claim 58 where said compound is one wherein R is hydrogen.
- 60. The method as defined in claim 58 where said compound is one wherein R is methyl.
- 61. A method of alleviating pain in a patient which comprises administering to said patient an effective analgesic amount of the compound defined in claim 1.
- 62. The method as defined in claim 61 where said compound is one wherein R is hydrogen.
- 63. The method as defined in claim 61 where said compound is one wherein R is methyl.
- 64. The method as defined in claim 61 where said compound is one wherein R is ##STR21## where R.sub.2 is loweralkylene.
