Claims
- 1. A compound of formula Ib ##STR5## in which R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each is hydrogen, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, trifluoromethyl, halo, or hydroxy; or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together form a OCH.sub.2 O chain; R.sup.14 and R.sup.15 each is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R.sup.16 is hydrogen, a radical of formula (CH.sub.2).sub.n NR.sup.12 R.sup.13 wherein n is an integer from two to six, and R.sup.12 and R.sup.13 each is hydrogen or lower alkyl, or a radical of formula CO(CH.sub.2).sub.n-1 NR.sup.12 R.sup.13 wherein n, R.sup.12 and R.sup.13 are as described herein, and R.sup.17 is hydrogen, or R.sup.16 and R.sup.17 together form an imine; or a thereapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
- 2. A compound of formula Ib ##STR6## in which R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are hydrogen; R.sup.14 and R.sup.15 each is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R.sup.16 is hydrogen or a radical of formula CO(CH.sub.2)n-1NR.sup.12 R.sup.13 wherein n is an integer from two to six, and R.sup.12 and R.sup.13 each is lower alkyl; and R.sup.17 is hydrogen, or R.sup.16 and R.sup.17 together form an imine; or a therapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
- 3. 1,3,4,10b-Tetrahydro-2-methylpyrimido[6,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one, as claimed in claim 1.
- 4. 1,10b-Dihydro-2,2-dimethylpyrimido[6,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one, as claimed in claim 1.
- 5. 1,3,4,10b-Tetrahydro-2,2-dimethylpyrimido[6,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one, as claimed in claim 1.
- 6. 3-(N,N-Dimethylaminoacetyl)-1,3,4,10b-tetrahydro-2,2-dimethylpyrimido[6,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one, as claimed in claim 1.
- 7. 1,3,4,10b-Tetrahydropyrimido[6,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one, as claimed in claim 1.
- 8. A method of treating hypertension in a mammal, which comprises administering to said mammal an effective antihypertensive amount of a compound of formula Ib or a therapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, as claimed in claim 1.
- 9. An antihypertensive pharmaceutical composition, which comprises an effective amount of a compound of formula Ib or a therapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, as claimed in claim 1, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
- 10. A method of treating hypertension in an hypertensive mammal, which comprises administering to the mammal an antihypertensive effective amount of a compound of formula Ib of claim 1, or a therapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, in combination with an effective amount of a diuretic and/or antihypertensive agent, in which the agent is chlorothiazide, hydrochlorothiazide or propranolol.
- 11. An antihypertensive pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of a compound of formula Ib of claim 1, or a therapeutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, and a diuretic and/or antihypertensive agent, in which the agent is chlorothiazide, hydrochlorothiazide or propranolol.
- 12. The method of claim 10 in which the compound of formula Ib or a therapeutically acceptable salt thereof, and the diuretic and/or antihypertensive agent is administered sequentially or simultaneously.
