Claims
- 1. An antimicrobial polymer composition comprising a polymer and an antimicrobial composition, of wherein said antimicrobial composition is composed of a coat of aluminosilicate on the surface of silica gel, wherein said composition has a pore volume of at least 0.3 cm.sup.3 /g and a specific surface area of at least 100 m.sup.2 /g, wherein said aluminosilicate coat is composed of either partial or complete substituted ion-exchangeable metal (M) in the aluminosilicate solid coating layer represented by the formula xM.sub.2 /.sub.n O--Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 --ySiO.sub.2 --ZH.sub.2 --O, wherein x and y represent the numbers of molecules of the metal oxide and silicon dioxide, respectively, M is an ion-exchangeable metal, n is the atomic valence of M, and z is the number of molecules of water, wherein said partial or completely substituted ion-exchangeable metal is selected from the group consisting of silver, copper, zinc, mercury, tin, lead, bismuth, cadmium, chromium and mixtures thereof and wherein said polymer is a halogenated or non-halogenated organic polymer.
- 2. An antimicrobial polymer composition comprising a polymer and an antimicrobial composition, wherein said antimicrobial composition is composed of a coat of aluminosilicate on the surface of silica gel, wherein said composition has a pore volume of at least 0.3 cm.sup.3 /g and a specific surface area of at least 100 m.sup.2 /g, wherein said aluminosilicate coat is composed of either partial or complete substituted ion-exchangeable metal (M) in the aluminosilicate solid coating layer represented by the formula xM.sub.2 /.sub.n O--Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 --ySiO.sub.2 --ZH.sub.2 --O, wherein x and y represent the numbers of molecules of the metal oxide and silicon dioxide, respectively, M is an ion-exchangeable metal, n is the atomic valence of M, and z is the number of molecules of water, wherein said partial or completely substituted ion-exchangeable metal is selected from the group consisting of silver, copper, zinc, mercury, tin, lead, bismuth, cadmium, chromium and mixtures thereof and wherein said polymer is a thermoplastic synthetic polymer selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyamides, polyesters, polyvinyl alcohol, polycarbonates, polyacetals, ABS resins, acrylic resins, fluorine resins, polyurethane elastomers, polyester elastomers, polyvinyl chloride and polyvinylidene chloride.
- 3. An antimicrobial polymer composition comprising a polymer and an antimicrobial composition, wherein said antimicrobial composition is composed of a coat of aluminosilicate on the surface of silica gel, wherein said composition has a pore volume of at least 0.3 cm.sup.3 /g and a specific surface area of at least 100 m.sup.2 /g, wherein said aluminosilicate coat is composed of either partial or complete substituted ion-exchangeable metal (M) in the aluminosilicate solid coating layer represented by the formula xM.sub.2 /.sub.n O--Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 --ySiO.sub.2 --ZH.sub.2 --O, wherein x and y represent the numbers of molecules of the metal oxide and silicon dioxide, respectively, M is an ion-exchangeable metal, n is the atomic valence of M, and z is the number of molecules of water, wherein said partial or completely substituted ion-exchangeable metal is selected from the group consisting of silver, copper, zinc, mercury, tin, lead, bismuth, cadmium, chromium and mixtures thereof and wherein said polymer is a thermosetting synthetic polymer selected from the group consisting of phenolic resins, urea resins, melamine resins, unsaturated polyester resins, epoxy resins and urethane resins.
- 4. An antimicrobial polymer composition comprising a polymer and an antimicrobial composition, wherein said antimicrobial composition is composed of a coat of aluminosilicate on the surface of silica gel, wherein said composition has a pore volume of at least 0.3 cm.sup.3 /g and a specific surface area of at least 100 m.sup.2 /g, wherein said aluminosilicate coat is composed of either partial or complete substituted ion-exchangeable metal (M) in the aluminosilicate solid coating layer represented by the formula xM.sub.2 /.sub.n O--Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 --ySiO.sub.2 --ZH.sub.2 --O, wherein x and y represent the numbers of molecules of the metal oxide and silicon dioxide, respectively, M is an ion-exchangeable metal, n is the atomic valence of M, and z is the number of molecules of water, wherein said partial or completely substituted ion-exchangeable metal is selected from the group consisting of silver, copper, zinc, mercury, tin, lead, bismuth, cadmium, chromium and mixtures thereof and wherein said polymer is regenerated or semi-synthetic polymer selected from the group consisting of rayon, cuprammonium rayon, cellulose monoacetate, cellulose diacetate and cellulose triacetate.
