Claims
- 1. A composition comprising(A) at least one antimicrobial compound of the formula (B) citric acid in an amount sufficient to raise the solubility of said at least one antimicrobial compound to the range of 2 to 5%; and (C) sodium hydroxide in sufficient quantity to raise the pH of the solution to at least the range of 5.2 to 5.3, whereby a buffer system of citric acid and sodium citrate develops.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 in which the at least one antimicrobial substance is taurolidine.
- 3. A method of increasing the solubility of taurolidine in aqueous solutions by adding citric acid.
- 4. The method of claim 3 additionally comprising the step of adding sodium hydroxide to adjust the pH of the solution and create a buffer system of citric acid and sodium citrate.
