- 2. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which R1 is a member selected from the group consisting of —CH2CH2OCH3 and —CH2CH2OCH2CH2CH3.
- 3. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which R1 is a member selected from the group consisting of —CH2CH2OH and —CH2CH2CH2CH(OH)CH3.
- 4. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which R1 is a member selected from the group consisting of —CH2CH2NH2 and —CH2CH2N(CH3)2.
- 5. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said quaternary ammonium organosilane is present at a concentration of from about 0.01% to about 20% by weight.
- 6. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said quaternary ammonium organosilane is 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride.
- 7. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said quaternary ammonium organosilane is 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldidecylmethyl ammonium chloride.
- 8. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said quaternary ammonium organosilane is 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyltetradecyl ammonium chloride.
- 9. A method in accordance with claim 1 wherein the soap or spray comprises a mixture of said quaternary ammonium organosilanes.
- 10. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said microorganisms are members selected from the group consisting of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
- 11. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said microorganisms are viruses.
- 12. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said microorganisms are fungi.
- 13. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said microorganisms are a member selected from the group consisting of algae and mold.
- 14. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said microorganisms are yeast.
- 15. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said microorganisms are spores.
- 16. A method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the soap or spray comprises water-soluble additives.
- 17. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which the amount of said aqueous solution and said quaternary ammonium organosilane therein is sufficient to maintain said reduction or elimination of pathogens for 64 hours.
- 18. A method in accordance with claim 16 in which said water-soluble additives are members selected from the group consisting of methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, and propyl alcohol, and constitute from 1% to 80% of said aqueous solution.
- 19. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said soap is in the form of a gel.
- 20. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said soap is a solid.
- 21. A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said quaternary ammonium organosilane constitutes 00.1 to 4 weight percent of said soap or spray.
- 22. A method in accordance with claim 16 in which said water-soluble additives comprise a dye at 0.001 to 0.2 weight percent of said soap or spray.
- 23. A method in accordance with claim 16 in which said water-soluble additives comprise a scent at 0.001 to 1.0 weight percent of said soap or spray.
