Claims
- 1. A method of making a high efficacy antiperspirant salt which comprises providing an aqueous solution of enhanced efficacy aluminum chlorhydroxide, adding zirconyl hydroxy chloride to said solution to provide a mixed solution, said zirconyl hydroxy chloride being added in an amount to provide an atomic ratio of Al:Zr of about 1:1 to 6:1, and rapidly drying said mixed solution to solid form.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said enhanced efficacy aluminum chlorhydroxide is at a concentration of 2 to 18% by weight in said aqueous solution prior to the addition of said zirconyl hydroxy chloride.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said enhanced efficacy aluminum chlorhydroxide is at a concentration of 8 to 15% by weight in said aqueous solution prior to the addition of said zirconyl hydroxy chloride.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said aqueous solution of enhanced efficacy aluminum chlorhydroxide is partially dried to increase its concentration prior to the addition of said zirconyl hydroxy chloride.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein said enhanced efficacy aluminum chlorhydroxide is at a concentration of 45 to 55% by weight in said aqueous solution prior to the addition of said zirconyl hydroxy chloride.
- 6. The method of claim 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 wherein said rapid drying comprises spray drying.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein said zirconyl hydroxy chloride is added as an aqueous solution.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein said aqueous solution of zirconyl hydroxy chloride has a concentration of 30 to 55% by weight of zirconyl hydroxy chloride.
- 9. The method of claim 8 wherein said aqueous solution of zirconyl hydroxy chloride contains glycine.
- 10. The method of claim 6 wherein said mixed solution, prior to spray drying, exhibits a peak 4 to peak 3 height ratio of at least 1.5:1 when subjected to gel permeation chromatography at a concentration of 10% on cross-linked dextran having a molecular weight exclusion range of 1000 to 30,000 for globular proteins, wherein at least 80% of the aluminum is present within said peaks 3 and 4.
- 11. The method of claim 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 wherein said rapid drying comprises vacuum flash evaporation.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein said zirconyl hydroxy chloride is added as an aqueous solution of 30 to 55% concentration by weight.
- 13. The product made by the method of claim 6.
- 14. The product made by the method of claim 9.
- 15. The product made by the method of claim 10.
- 16. The product made by the method of claim 11.
