Claims
- 1. An organic polymer composition stabilized against static comprising;
- a pelletized polyethylene; and
- an antistatically-effective amount of a hexahalogenated ionic compound selected from the group consisting of ammonium, lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, and cesium salts of hexafluoro-, hexachloro-, hexabromo-, hexaiodo-, and hexaastatodo-nitrate, phosphate, arsenate, antimonate, and bismuthate.
- 2. A method of imparting antistatic properties to an organic polymer composition, the method comprising the steps of:
- preparing an antistatic additive composition by:
- heating a co-solvent, selected from the group consisting of water and polyalkylene glycol dialkyl ethers, to 110-115.degree. F.;
- dissolving in the heated co-solvent a hexahalogenated ionic compound; and
- diluting the dissolved compound and solvent with a diluent selected from the group consisting of urethane polyol, polypropylene glycols and triols, poly(oxy)propylene glycols and triols; and
- dispersing an antistatically-effective amount of the antistatic additive composition in the organic polymer composition.
