The present invention relates to an antitheft backpack, and more specifically, the present invention relates to an antitheft backpack that may be camouflaged.
Backpacks have become quite common among almost everyone. Backpacks provide a convenient way of carrying things. Backpacks are handy and the things inside the backpack are readily accessible. Backpacks can carry a range of things comfortably on the back and keep the hands free for any other work. Different kinds of things, such as books, laptop, camera, clothing, food, and the like can be carried in a backpack. Typically, a backpack may include different pockets to keep things organized.
Although backpacks have become ubiquitous, stealing backpacks and personal belongings is a common problem faced by many. People carry costly articles in a backpack, such as cameras and laptops. The backpack being positioned on the back of a person becomes an easy target for thieves. Also, stealing the bag itself is a major problem that causes a lot of stress and inconvenience. A need is therefore appreciated for an anti-theft backpack.
The following presents a simplified summary of one or more embodiments of the present invention in order to provide a basic understanding of such embodiments. This summary is not an extensive overview of all contemplated embodiments and is intended to neither identify key or critical elements of all embodiments nor delineate the scope of any or all embodiments. The bag 300 may be made from any suitable material known to a skilled person for making conventional bags. Moreover, the bag may be of a sac profile having one or more pockets. The one or more pockets may be open or closed. Also, one or more pockets may be cushioned. The backpack may also include any accessory, such as charging ports and battery. Any shape, size, and design of the bag may be within the scope of the present invention. Moreover, any accessory or feature may be included in the bag without departing from the scope of the present invention.
The inner side of the bag 300 may optionally include cushioning pads 310. The inner side of the bag may come in contact with the back of the wearer and thus the cushioning pads 310 may provide comfort. The drawing shows four cushioning pads, two at the top and two at the bottom. The bag 300 may further include two shoulder straps 320. Each shoulder strap may have length adjusting means 330 which allows adjusting the lengths of the shoulder steps independently. A handle 340 may be provided at the top of the bag. The handle 340 may be configured to be gripped in a hand for lifting the bag. The bag may include further straps depending upon the intended use, utility, and comfort of the user. For example, the drawing shows an additional length adjustable belly strap 350, a Velcro® strap strip 360, and an adjustable strap 380.
The backpack cover 200 may cover the front side of the bag 300. Thus, the shape and size of the backpack cover 200 may correspond to the shape and size of the bag 300 The backpack cover 200 covers at least the front and sides of the bag 300 in the inflated state of the bag. The backpack cover 200 may thus conceal the bag 300. The top portion of the backpack cover 200 may include a pocket 210. The pull-out hood 400 may be enclosed within the pocket 210 and may be pulled out as and when desired. The pull-out hood 400 may be attached to a part of the pocket 210 to prevent the pull-out hood from getting separated. The pocket 210 may be opened to take out the pull-out hood.
The pull-out hood 400 may have a top portion 410 and a bottom portion 420. The top portion 410 may be worn over the head of the wearer while the bottom portion 420 may be made to cover at least a top portion of the bag. The pull-out hood 400 and the backpack cover 200 may have the same design so the backpack cover 200 may camouflage with the pull-out hood 400. The backpack cover 200 and the pull-out hood 400 may appear to be a garment worn on the head and back of the user. When not needed, the pull-out hood 400 can be reinserted into the pocket 210. The pull-out hood also referred to herein as a “cloak” may aid in camouflaging the bag, making it less obvious and therefore less likely to attract the attention of thieves. The pull-out hood may include strings 430 for tightening around the head.
In certain implementations, the backpack cover 200 may also include a camera 240 with an inbuilt microphone on the front side of the backpack cover 200. The camera and the microphone may capture the rear surroundings of the wearer. The term “wearer” herein and throughout the disclosure may refer to a person wearing the disclosed anti-theft backpack on their back. The backpack cover may also include an RFID shield to prevent any electronic theft. The integration of RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) blocking technology may prevent electronic theft, making it harder for unauthorized RFID readers to access personal data stored on smart cards or passports. A camera with a microphone may be connected to a user device such as a smartphone through a wireless connection.
The backpack cover 200 and the pull-out hood 400 may be made from cut-proof materials which offer protection against thieves who might attempt to slash the bag and steal its contents quickly. The backpack cover 200 and the pull-out hood 400 may also be waterproof, ensuring that personal items remain dry in various weather conditions, thus enhancing the durability and usability of the bag. The backpack cover and the bag may be made from a rigid and lightweight material, such as plastic and aluminum. The backpack cover and the bag may also be made from a flexible material, such as fabric that allows the bag to be expanded for increasing the volume of the bag.
The backpack cover may be securely attached to the bag using suitable fasteners. The drawings show snap fasteners for fastening the backpack cover to the bag. The left and right sides of each of the backpack cover and the bag may have a series of spaced-apart snap fasteners. The fastener may include interlocking first member and second member. The first member and the second member may interlock to engage the fastener. The first member 370 may be coupled to the bag 300 while the second member 220 may be coupled to the backpack cover 200. The backpack cover may also include the Velcro® strap 230 that may be attached to bag 300.
It is to be noted that any other method for securing a backpack cover to the bag is within the scope of the present invention. For example, using an elastic band along the periphery of the backpack cover may secure the backpack to the bag. Other examples of the fastener include a hook and loop fastener, snap buttons, and the like.
While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is considered presently to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method, and examples herein. The invention should therefore not be limited by the above-described embodiment, method, and examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention as claimed.
This application claims priority from a U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 63/606,532, filed on Dec. 5, 2023, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
