Claims
- 1. A biologically pure culture of the microorganism Actinomadura parvosata subsp. kistnae ATCC No. 55076, which is capable of producing the antiviral antibiotic BU-4344V in a recoverable quantity upon cultivation in a culture medium containing assimilable sources of carbon and nitrogen under submerged aerobic conditions.
- 2. The process for the preparation of BU-4344V having the formula ##STR7## which comprises cultivating a BU-4344V-producing strain of Actinomadura parvosata subsp. kistnae having the identifying characteristics of ATCC No. 55076, or a mutant thereof, in culture medium containing assimilable sources of carbon and nitrogen under submerged aerobic conditions until a substantial amount of BU-4344V is produced by said organism in said culture medium and then recovering BU-4344V from the culture medium.
