Claims
- 1. A method of advancing sheets within a document security apparatus, comprising the steps of:
- advancing a first enclosure sheet with a first scuffer;
- advancing a second enclosure sheet into contact with the first enclosure sheet with a second scuffer so that the first enclosure sheet and the second enclosure sheet create a pocket; and
- advancing a confidential sheet within the pocket with the first scuffer.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first scuffer is positioned within the pocket during the confidential sheet advancing step.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of advancing the confidential sheet includes the step of moving the confidential sheet in a forward path of movement and in contact with the first enclosure sheet within the pocket.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of advancing the confidential sheet includes the step of moving the confidential sheet in the forward path of movement and spaced apart from the second enclosure sheet within the pocket.
- 5. An apparatus for advancing a confidential sheet into a pocket defined by a number of enclosure sheets, comprising:
- a bail system for creating said pocket with said number of enclosure sheets; and
- a scuffer for advancing said confidential sheet within said pocket.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein:
- said number of enclosure sheets includes a first enclosure sheet and a second enclosure sheet,
- said bail system creates said pocket with said first enclosure sheet and said second enclosure sheet, and
- said scuffer is positioned between said first enclosure sheet and said second enclosure sheet while said confidential sheet is advanced within said pocket.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein said scuffer includes:
- a wheel having an outer circumferential surface; and
- a drive motor having an output shaft positioned in contact with said outer circumferential surface,
- wherein said outer circumferential surface is positioned in contact with said confidential sheet when said confidential sheet is being advanced by said scuffer.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said drive motor includes a stepper motor having said output shaft.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 5, further comprising (1) a roller assembly, and (2) an advancing roller, wherein:
- said scuffer advances a leading edge of said first enclosure sheet into a nip defined by said roller assembly, and
- said advancing roller advances a leading edge of said second enclosure sheet into said nip defined by said roller assembly.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising means for adhesively securing said leading edge of said first enclosure sheet to said leading edge of said second enclosure sheet prior to said scuffer advancing said confidential sheet within said pocket.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein said scuffer advances a second confidential sheet in a forward path of movement and in contact with said first confidential sheet within said pocket.
- 12. A method of advancing a confidential sheet within a document security apparatus, comprising the steps of:
- creating a pocket with a number of enclosure sheets; and
- advancing the confidential sheet to a location within the pocket with a scuffer,
- wherein the advancing step is performed after the creating step.
- 13. The method of claim 12, wherein:
- the number of enclosure sheets includes a first enclosure sheet and a second enclosure sheet, and
- the creating step includes the step of advancing a leading edge portion of the first enclosure sheet into contact with a leading edge portion of the second enclosure sheet so as to define the pocket.
- 14. The method of claim 13, wherein the creating step further includes the step of adhesively securing the leading edge portion of the first enclosure sheet to the leading edge portion of the second enclosure sheet prior to the advancing step.
- 15. The method of claim 13, wherein the creating step further includes the steps of:
- advancing the leading edge portion of the first enclosure sheet into a nip defined by a roller assembly, and
- advancing the leading edge portion of the second enclosure sheet into the nip defined by the roller assembly.
- 16. The method of claim 12, wherein the scuffer is positioned within the pocket during the advancing step.
- 17. The method of claim 12, wherein:
- the number of enclosure sheets includes a first enclosure sheet, and
- the advancing step includes the step of moving the confidential sheet in a forward path of movement and in contact with the first enclosure sheet within the pocket.
- 18. The method of claim 17, wherein:
- the number of enclosure sheets includes a second enclosure sheet, and
- the advancing step includes the step of moving the confidential sheet in the forward path of movement and spaced apart from the second enclosure sheet within the pocket.
- 19. The method of claim 17, further comprising the steps of:
- providing a second confidential sheet; and
- moving the second confidential sheet in the forward path of movement and in contact with the first confidential sheet within the pocket.
- 20. The method of claim 12, wherein:
- the scuffer comprises (1) a wheel having an outer circumferential surface positioned in contact with the confidential sheet, and (2) a drive motor having an output shaft positioned in contact with the outer circumferential surface, and
- the advancing step includes the step of rotating the output shaft so as to cause rotation of the wheel whereby the confidential sheet is advanced to the location within the pocket.
