Claims
- 1. The method of removing a mass lodged in an animal air passage comprising the steps of:
(a) sealing the nasal and oral cavities and depressing the tongue of the victim, and subsequently (b) exposing the sealed nasal and oral cavities of the victim to communication with an evacuated canister to thereby create a lower pressure in the oral cavity above the obstruction.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the animal is a human being.
- 3. The method of removing a mass lodged in the pharynx and/or larynx of a victim comprising the steps of:
(a) applying to the victim a device comprising means for sealing the nasal and oral cavities and depressing the tongue, a sealed evacuated canister and a valved non-collapsible conduit communicating the oral cavity at one end and the evacuated canister at the other end; (b) puncturing the sealed evacuated canister, and (c) subsequently instantaneously communicating the oral cavity with the evacuated container by opening the valved conduit.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein the sealed evacuated canister is first punctured and subsequently the means for sealing the nasal and oral cavities and depressing the tongue is disposed on the victim.
- 5. The method of claim 3, wherein the nasal and oral cavity and the tongue of the victim is first sealed, and subsequently the sealed evacuated canister is punctured.
