Claims
- 1. A comestible fluid dispensing apparatus having a sterilizing device, the comestible fluid dispensing apparatus comprising:an ultraviolet light generator; an ultraviolet light transmitter adjacent to the ultraviolet light generator; a comestible fluid vessel having an interior surface; a nozzle; and a fluid line coupled to and in fluid communication with the nozzle and the comestible fluid vessel for supplying comestible fluid to the nozzle, the fluid line having an interior surface; the ultraviolet light transmitter extending to at least one of the comestible fluid vessel and the comestible fluid line for transmitting ultraviolet light from the ultraviolet light generator to a surface of at least one of the comestible fluid vessel and the comestible fluid line.
- 2. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ultraviolet light transmitter is a fiber optic line.
- 3. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ultraviolet light transmitter is a light pipe.
- 4. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the surface is an interior surface.
- 5. A method of sterilizing a comestible fluid dispensing apparatus having a comestible fluid storage vessel, a nozzle for dispensing comestible fluid, and a fluid line coupled to and in fluid communication with the comestible fluid storage vessel and the nozzle, the method comprising the steps of:producing ultraviolet light via an ultraviolet light generator; receiving ultraviolet light in an ultraviolet light transmitter adjacent to the ultraviolet light generator; transmitting ultraviolet light through the ultraviolet light transmitter to at least one of the comestible fluid storage vessel, the nozzle, and the fluid line; and directing ultraviolet light upon a surface of at least one of the comestible fluid storage vessel, the nozzle, and the fluid line.
- 6. The method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the surface is an interior surface.
- 7. The method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the ultraviolet light transmitter is at least one fiber optic line.
- 8. The method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the ultraviolet light transmitter is at least one light pipe.
- 9. The method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the nozzle is part of a hand-held dispensing gun, the fluid line running through the hand-held dispensing gun.
- 10. A comestible fluid dispensing apparatus having a sterilizing device, the comestible fluid dispensing apparatus comprising:an ultraviolet light generator; an ultraviolet light transmitter adjacent to the ultraviolet light generator; a dispensing gun having a nozzle with a nozzle surface; a dispensing gun holder; and a fluid line coupled to and in fluid communication with the dispensing gun for supplying comestible fluid to the nozzle, the ultraviolet light transmitter extending to the dispensing gun holder for transmitting ultraviolet light to the dispensing gun holder, the ultraviolet light transmitter positioned in the dispensing gun holder to direct ultraviolet light upon the surface of the nozzle when located in the dispensing gun holder.
- 11. The comestible fluid dispensing apparatus as claimed in claim 10, wherein the ultraviolet light transmitter is at least one fiber optic line.
- 12. The comestible fluid dispensing apparatus as claimed in claim 10, wherein the ultraviolet light transmitter is at least one light pipe.
- 13. The comestible fluid dispensing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a lens positioned to receive ultraviolet light from the ultraviolet light transmitter and to distribute ultraviolet light upon the surface.
- 14. The method as claimed in claim 5, further comprising:receiving ultraviolet light from the ultraviolet light transmitter with a lens; and distributing light upon the surface with the lens.
- 15. The comestible fluid dispensing apparatus as claimed in claim 10, further comprising a lens positioned to receive ultraviolet light from the ultraviolet light transmitter and to distribute ultraviolet light upon the nozzle surface.
