- 11. Apparatus as in claim 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 wherein each of said pair of augers has opposite end portions each having auger flighting of opposite pitch relative to the other end portion thereof and positioned so that each such portion conveys material towards said exposed portion.
- 12. Apparatus as in claim 11 wherein said flighting of each of said portions decreases in diameter toward said exposed portion.
- 13. Apparatus for collecting bulk materials and feeding them into a conveyor comprising a conveyor section including an auger having an exposed end portion, a pair of augers disposed with one on each side of said exposed end portion with their axes of rotation generally normal to the axis of rotation of said exposed end portion for collecting said bulk material and loading it into said conveyor section, and means for controlled pivotal adjustment of said pair of augers relative to said conveyor section, a first frame section mounted on said conveyor section for pivotal movement about a first axis generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said exposed end portion, a second frame section mounted on said first frame section for pivotal movement about an axis generally perpendicular to said first axis and to said longitudinal axis of said exposed end portion, said pair of augers being supported on said second frame for pivoting adjustment therewith, and wherein said controlled pivotal adjustment means controls the tilting of said second frame relative to said conveyor section and thereby provides universal tilting movement of said pair of augers relative to said conveyor section.
- 14. Apparatus for collecting bulk materials and feeding them into a conveyor comprising a conveyor section including an auger having an exposed end portion, a pair of augers disposed with one on each side of said exposed end portion with their axes of rotation generally normal to the axis of rotation of said exposed end portion for collecting said bulk material and loading it into said conveyor section, said pair of augers being mounted for pivoting adjustment about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said exposed end portion, and means for controlled pivotal adjustment of said pair of augers relative to said conveyor section, each of said pair of augers having opposite end portions each having auger flighting of opposite pitch relative to the other end portion thereof and positioned so that each such portion conveys material toward said exposed portion.
- 15. Apparatus as in claim 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 13 or 14, wherein each of said pair of augers is exposed throughout its length.
- 16. Apparatus as in claim 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 13 or 14 wherein the axes of rotation of said pair of augers are parallel to one another.
- 17. Apparatus as claimed in claim 14 wherein said flighting of each of said portions decreases in diameter toward said exposed portion.
- 18. Apparatus for collecting bulk materials and feeding them into a conveyor including an auger having an exposed end portion, and a pair of auger portions disposed generally normal to the axis of rotation of said exposed end portion and extending in opposite directions therefrom with their axes of rotation in a fixed relation to one another and disposed for accumulating and advancing the bulk material to a position proximate said exposed end portion for loading into said conveyor section, said pair of auger portions being mounted for common controlled pivoting adjusting about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said exposed end portion to allow pivotal adjustment of said pair of auger portions relative to said conveyor.
- 19. The invention as in claim 18 wherein said auger portions are axially aligned with one another.
- 20. The invention as in claim 19 wherein said auger portions are on a common shaft and have flighting of opposite pitch relative to one another.
- 21. The invention of claim 19 including two pair of such auger portions, with one pair on one side of said exposed end portion and the other pair on the other side thereof.
