Claims
- 1. An image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
a brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness increment for a pixel; and an individual component brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting the brightness increments of individual components constituting the pixel in response to the brightness increment for a pixel.
- 2. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 1, wherein the individual component brightness increment arithmetic unit multiplies the brightness increment of the pixel by each of the unit vectors of the components constituting the pixel to obtain the brightness increments of the individual components.
- 3. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 1, further comprising an adder for adding the components constituting the pixel to the brightness increments of the components.
- 4. An image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
a brightness difference arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness difference between a reference brightness and a brightness of an input signal; a brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness increment corresponding to the brightness difference; an individual element brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting brightness increments of individual elements constituting the input signal in response to the brightness increment for the input signal; and an arithmetic unit for outputting a signal whose brightness is increased from the brightness of the input signal in response to the input signal and the output signal of the individual element brightness increment arithmetic unit.
- 5. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 1, wherein the individual element brightness increment arithmetic unit multiplies the brightness increment of the input signal by each of the unit vectors of the elements constituting the input signal to obtain the brightness increments of the individual elements.
- 6. An image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
a brightness arithmetic unit for outputting the brightness of an input signal; a reference value arithmetic unit for outputting a reference brightness for the brightness of an input signal; a brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness increment corresponding to the difference between the reference brightness and the brightness of the input signal; an individual component brightness increment arithmetic unit for calculating the brightness increments of individual elements constituting the input signal in response to the brightness increment for the input signal; and an arithmetic unit for adding the components constituting the input signal to the brightness increments output from the individual component brightness increment arithmetic unit to obtain a brightness-increased signal.
- 7. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 6, wherein the individual component brightness increment arithmetic unit multiplies the brightness increment of the input signal by each of the unit vectors of the elements constituting the input signal to obtain the brightness increments of the individual elements.
- 8. An image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
a maximum component arithmetic unit for outputting the value of the maximum component among the components constituting an input signal; a reference value arithmetic unit for outputting a reference brightness value for the output value; a brightness difference arithmetic unit for outputting the difference between the reference brightness and the brightness of the maximum component; a brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness increment corresponding to the brightness difference in response to the brightness difference and the components constituting the input signal; an RGB brightness increment arithmetic unit for calculating the brightness increments of the individual components constituting the input signal in response to the components constituting the input signal and the brightness increment received from the brightness increment arithmetic unit; and an adder for adding the components constituting the input signal to the brightness increments of the components.
- 9. An image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
a brightness parameter arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness parameter for an input image signal composed of a plurality of elements; a reference value arithmetic unit for outputting a reference brightness value for the output brightness parameter; a brightness improvement ratio divider for dividing the reference brightness value by the brightness parameter output from the brightness parameter arithmetic unit to obtain a brightness improvement ratio; and an individual element multiplier for multiplying each of the elements constituting the input image signal by the brightness improvement ratio.
- 10. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 9, wherein the brightness parameter arithmetic unit determines as the brightness parameter the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal.
- 11. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 9, wherein the reference value arithmetic unit calculates the reference brightness value corresponding to the brightness parameter output from the brightness parameter arithmetic unit using a plurality of reference brightness value functions corresponding to a received control signal.
- 12. An image brightness controlling apparatus depending on the brightness degree of an image, the apparatus comprising:
a brightness improvement parameter setting portion for setting a brightness improvement parameter for determining the degree of an increase or decrease in the brightness of an image, in response to an input image signal composed of a plurality of elements and a control signal; and a brightness controller for controlling the brightness of an image in response to the brightness improvement parameter and the input image signal.
- 13. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 12, further comprising an RGB signal transformer for transforming the input image signal into a luminance signal if the input image signal is an RGB signal.
- 14. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 12, wherein the brightness controller comprises:
a brightness parameter arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness parameter for the input image signal; a reference value arithmetic unit for outputting a reference brightness value for the output brightness parameter; a brightness improvement ratio divider for dividing the reference brightness value by the brightness parameter output from the brightness parameter arithmetic unit to obtain a brightness improvement ratio; and an individual element multiplier for multiplying each of the elements constituting the input image signal by the brightness improvement ratio.
- 15. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 14, wherein the brightness parameter arithmetic unit determines as the brightness parameter the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal.
- 16. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 12, wherein the brightness improvement parameter setting portion comprises:
a mean brightness arithmetic unit for calculating the mean brightness of the input image signal; and a parameter arithmetic unit for calculating a brightness improvement parameter in response to the mean brightness and the control signal.
- 17. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 16, wherein the parameter arithmetic unit calculated the brightness improvement parameter by comparing the mean brightness with a reference brightness.
- 18. An image brightness controlling apparatus depending on the brightness range of an image, the apparatus comprising:
a parameter setting portion for setting the maximum and minimum values of the brightness of an input image signal and the maximum and minimum values of an extended brightness in response to the input image signal composed of a plurality of elements and a control signal; and a brightness range improving portion for outputting a luminance signal obtained by extending the brightness range of the input image signal, in response to the input image signal, the plurality of values output from the parameter setting portion, the predetermined maximum and minimum reference values of the brightness of the input image signal, and the maximum and minimum reference values of an extended brightness.
- 19. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 18, wherein the brightness range improving portion comprises:
a brightness parameter arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness parameter for the input image signal; a range comparator for comparing the brightness parameter with the maximum and minimum values of the brightness of the input image signal to determine which section the brightness parameter belongs to and output section information; and a brightness signal arithmetic unit for outputting the brightness range-extended brightness parameter in response to the section information and the brightness parameter.
- 20. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 18, wherein the brightness range improving portion comprises:
a brightness parameter arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness parameter for the input image signal; a range comparator for comparing the brightness parameter with the maximum and minimum values of the brightness of the input image signal to determine which section the brightness parameter belongs to and output section information; a brightness signal arithmetic unit for outputting a plurality of brightness parameters in which brightness ranges of individual sections are extended, in response to the brightness parameter; and a range selector for receiving the plurality of brightness parameters in which the brightness ranges of individual sections are extended and the section information and selecting a brightness parameter corresponding to the section information among the received brightness parameters to obtain the luminance signal whose brightness range is extended.
- 21. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 19, wherein the brightness parameter arithmetic unit determines as the brightness parameter the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal.
- 22. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 20, wherein the brightness parameter arithmetic unit determines as the brightness parameter the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal.
- 23. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 19, further comprising a brightness controller for controlling the brightness of an image in response to the brightness parameter, the brightness range-extended luminance signal, and the input image signal.
- 24. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 20, further comprising a brightness controller for controlling the brightness of an image in response to the brightness parameter, the brightness range-extended luminance signal, and the input image signal.
- 25. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 23, wherein the brightness controller comprises:
a reference value arithmetic unit for outputting a reference brightness value for the brightness range-extended luminance signal; a brightness improvement ratio divider for dividing the reference brightness value by the brightness parameter output from the brightness parameter arithmetic unit to obtain a brightness improvement ratio; and an individual element multiplier for multiplying each of the elements constituting the input image signal by the brightness improvement ratio.
- 26. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 23, wherein the parameter setting portion sets a brightness improvement parameter for determining the degree of an increase or decrease in the brightness of an image, in response to the input image signal and a signal included in the control signal.
- 27. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 26, wherein the parameter setting portion comprises a mean brightness arithmetic unit for calculating the mean brightness of the input image signal and a parameter arithmetic unit for calculating a brightness improvement parameter in response to the mean brightness and the signal included in the control signal, and outputs the brightness improvement parameter.
- 28. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 27, wherein the parameter arithmetic unit calculates the brightness improvement parameter by comparing the mean brightness with a reference brightness.
- 29. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 27, wherein the parameter setting portion further comprising an RGB signal transformer for transforming the input image signal into a luminance signal if the input image signal is an RGB signal.
- 30. The image brightness controlling apparatus of claim 28, wherein the parameter setting portion further comprising an RGB signal transformer for transforming the input image signal into a luminance signal if the input image signal is an RGB signal.
- 31. An image brightness controlling method comprising:
outputting a brightness increment for a pixel; and outputting the brightness increments of individual components constituting the pixel in response to the brightness increment for a pixel.
- 32. The image brightness controlling method of claim 31, wherein, in the step of outputting brightness increments of individual components, the brightness increments of the individual components are obtained by multiplying the brightness increment of the pixel by each of the unit vectors of the components constituting the pixel.
- 33. The image brightness controlling method of claim 31, further comprising adding the components constituting the pixel to the brightness increments of the components.
- 34. An image brightness controlling method comprising:
obtaining the difference between a reference brightness and the brightness of an input signal; obtaining a brightness increment corresponding to the brightness difference; obtaining the brightness increments of individual elements constituting the input signal in response to the brightness increment for the input signal; and obtaining a signal whose brightness is increased from the brightness of the input signal in response to the input signal and the obtained brightness increments of the individual elements.
- 35. An image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
outputting the brightness of an input signal; outputting a reference brightness for the brightness of an input signal; outputting a brightness increment corresponding to the difference between the reference brightness and the brightness of the input signal; calculating the brightness increments of individual elements constituting the input signal in response to the brightness increment for the input signal; and adding the components constituting the input signal to the calculated brightness increments of the individual elements to obtain a brightness-increased signal.
- 36. An image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
outputting the brightness of the maximum component among the components constituting an input signal; outputting a reference brightness for the brightness of the maximum component; outputting the difference between the reference brightness and the brightness of the maximum component; outputting a brightness increment corresponding to the brightness difference in response to the brightness difference and the components constituting the input signal; calculating the brightness increments of the individual components constituting the input signal in response to the components constituting the input signal and the brightness increment received from the brightness increment arithmetic unit; and adding the components constituting the input signal to the brightness increments of the components.
- 37. An image brightness controlling method comprising.
calculating a brightness parameter for an input image signal composed of a plurality of elements; calculating a reference brightness value for the calculated brightness parameter; dividing the reference brightness value by the calculated brightness parameter to obtain a brightness improvement ratio; and multiplying each of the elements constituting the input image signal by the brightness improvement ratio.
- 38. The image brightness controlling method of claim 37, wherein, in the brightness parameter calculation step, the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal is determined as the brightness parameter.
- 39. The image brightness controlling method of claim 37, wherein, in the reference value calculation step, the reference brightness value corresponding to the calculated brightness parameter is obtained using a plurality of reference brightness value functions corresponding to a received control signal.
- 40. An adaptive image brightness controlling method based on the brightness degree of an image, the method comprising:
setting a brightness improvement parameter for determining the degree of an increase or decrease in the brightness of an image, in response to an input image signal composed of a plurality of elements and a control signal; and controlling the brightness of an image in response to the brightness improvement parameter and the input image signal.
- 41. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 40, further comprising transforming the input image signal into a luminance signal if the input image signal is an RGB signal.
- 42. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 40, wherein the brightness controlling step comprises:
calculating a brightness parameter for the input image signal; calculating a reference brightness value for the output brightness parameter; dividing the reference brightness value by the calculated brightness parameter to obtain a brightness improvement ratio; and multiplying each of the elements constituting the input image signal by the brightness improvement ratio.
- 43. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 42, wherein, in the brightness parameter calculation step, the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal is determined as the brightness parameter.
- 44. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 40, wherein the brightness improvement parameter setting step comprises:
calculating the mean brightness of the input image signal; and calculating a brightness improvement parameter in response to the mean brightness and the control signal.
- 45. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 44, wherein, in the brightness improvement parameter calculation step, the brightness improvement parameter is obtained by comparing the mean brightness with a reference brightness.
- 46. An adaptive image brightness controlling method depending on the brightness range of an image, the method comprising:
setting parameters that are the maximum and minimum values of the brightness of an input image signal and the maximum and minimum values of an extended brightness in response to the input image signal composed of a plurality of elements and a control signal; and extending the brightness range of the input image signal in response to the input image signal, the plurality of values set in the previous step, the predetermined maximum and minimum reference values of the brightness of the input image signal, and the maximum and minimum reference values of an extended brightness, to obtain a luminance signal whose brightness range is extended.
- 47. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 46, wherein the brightness range extending step comprises:
outputting a brightness parameter corresponding to the input image signal; comparing the brightness parameter with the maximum and minimum values of the brightness of the input image signal to determine which section the brightness parameter belongs to and output section information; and outputting the brightness range-extended brightness parameter in response to the section information and the brightness parameter.
- 48. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 46, wherein the brightness range extending portion comprises:
outputting a brightness parameter for the input image signal; comparing the brightness parameter with the maximum and minimum values of the brightness of the input image signal to determine which section the brightness parameter belongs to and output section information; outputting a plurality of brightness parameters in which the brightness ranges of individual sections are extended in response to the brightness parameters; and receiving the plurality of brightness range-extended brightness parameters and the section information and selecting a brightness parameter corresponding to the section information among the received brightness parameters to obtain the luminance signal whose brightness range is extended.
- 49. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 47, wherein in the brightness parameter calculation step, the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal is determined as the brightness parameter.
- 50. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 48, wherein in the brightness parameter calculation step, the value of the maximum element among the elements constituting the input image signal is determined as the brightness parameter.
- 51. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 47, further comprising controlling the brightness of an image in response to the brightness parameter, the luminance signal whose brightness range is extended, and the input image signal.
- 52. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 48, further comprising controlling the brightness of an image in response to the brightness parameter, the luminance signal whose brightness range is extended, and the input image signal.
- 53. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 51, wherein the brightness controlling step comprises:
outputting a reference brightness value for the brightness range-extended luminance signal; dividing the reference brightness value by the brightness parameter output from the brightness parameter arithmetic unit to obtain a brightness improvement ratio; and multiplying each of the elements constituting the input image signal by the brightness improvement ratio.
- 54. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 51, wherein in the parameter setting step, a brightness improvement parameter for determining the degree of an increase or decrease in the brightness of an image is obtained in response to the input image signal and a signal included in the control signal.
- 55. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 54, wherein the parameter setting step comprises:
calculating the mean brightness of the input image signal; and calculating a brightness improvement parameter in response to the mean brightness and the signal included in the control signal.
- 56. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 55, wherein in calculating a brightness improvement parameter, the brightness improvement parameter is obtained by comparing the mean brightness with a reference brightness.
- 57. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 55, wherein the parameter setting step further comprises transforming the input image signal into a luminance signal if the input image signal is an RGB signal.
- 58. The adaptive image brightness controlling method of claim 56, wherein the parameter setting step further comprises transforming the input image signal into a luminance signal if the input image signal is an RGB signal.
- 59. A computer readable recording medium that records a program for implementing an image brightness controlling method comprising:
outputting a brightness increment for a pixel; and outputting the brightness increments of individual components constituting the pixel in response to the brightness increment for a pixel.
- 60. A computer readable recording medium that records a program for implement an image brightness controlling method comprising:
obtaining the difference between a reference brightness and the brightness of an input signal; obtaining a brightness increment corresponding to the brightness difference; obtaining the brightness increments of individual elements constituting the input signal in response to the brightness increment for the input signal; and obtaining a signal whose brightness is increased from the brightness of the input signal in response to the input signal and the obtained brightness increments of the individual elements.
- 61. A computer readable recording medium that stores a program for implementing an image brightness controlling apparatus comprising:
outputting the brightness of the maximum component among the components constituting an input signal; outputting a reference brightness for the brightness of the maximum component; outputting the difference between the reference brightness and the brightness of the maximum component; outputting a brightness increment corresponding to the brightness difference in response to the brightness difference and the components constituting the input signal; calculating the brightness increments of the individual components constituting the input signal in response to the components constituting the input signal and the brightness increment received from the brightness increment arithmetic unit; and adding the components constituting the input signal to the brightness increments of the components.
- 62. A computer readable recording medium that stores a program for implementing an image brightness controlling method comprising:
calculating a brightness parameter for an input image signal composed of a plurality of elements; calculating a reference brightness value for the calculated brightness parameter; dividing the reference brightness value by the calculated brightness parameter to obtain a brightness improvement ratio; and multiplying each of the elements constituting the input image signal by the brightness improvement ratio.
- 63. A computer readable recording medium that stores a program for implementing an adaptive image brightness controlling method based on the brightness degree of an image, the method comprising:
setting a brightness improvement parameter for determining the degree of an increase or decrease in the brightness of an image, in response to an input image signal composed of a plurality of elements and a control signal; and controlling the brightness of an image in response to the brightness improvement parameter and the input image signal.
- 64. A computer readable recording medium that stores a program for implementing an adaptive image brightness controlling method based on the brightness range of an image, the method comprising:
setting parameters that are the maximum and minimum values of the brightness of an input image signal and the maximum and minimum values of an extended brightness in response to the input image signal composed of a plurality of elements and a control signal; and extending the brightness range of the input image signal in response to the input image signal, the plurality of values set in the previous step, the predetermined maximum and minimum reference values of the brightness of the input image signal, and the maximum and minimum reference values of an extended brightness, to obtain a luminance signal whose brightness range is extended.
