Claims
- 1. An apparatus for compacting yarn into a wad in a wad forming space having an entrance and an exit, including means for forwarding said yarn along a path into said wad forming space, and means to compact said yarn in said wad forming space using pressurized fluid, comprising:
- a fluid pressure chamber having an entrance and an exit, said chamber exit in fluid communication with said entrance to said wad forming space;
- a vent in communication with said chamber at a location adjacent said chamber entrance;
- and a tube coextensive with said path extending from said chamber entrance to a location beyond said vent location.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 including means for metering said wad from said wad forming space responsive to pressure in said chamber before said wad.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said pressurized fluid is heated.
- 4. A process for compacting yarn into a wad in a wad forming space having an entrance and an exit using pressuried fluid including forwarding said yarn into said wad forming space, comprising:
- passing the forwarded yarn through a fluid pressure chamber having an entrance and an exit, the chamber exit in fluid communication with the entrance of said wad forming space;
- delivering said yarn into said chamber at a location beyond said chamber entrance;
- and venting a portion of said pressurized fluid from said chamber at a location before said location of delivery of said yarn into said chamber.
