- 13. The device of claim 10 wherein the finger-like members have a roughened or knurled surface for grabbing the leading edge.
- 14. The device of claim 10 wherein the finger-like members are made of a flexible material.
- 15. The device of claim 10 wherein the finger-like members are generally rectangular in shape with one side having a roughened surface for grabbing the leading edge.
- 16. The device of claim 10 wherein the finger-like members are at an angle sufficient to grab the leading edge.
- 17. The device of claim 16 wherein the fingers are at a 21 degree angle.
- 18. The device of claim 10 wherein the tractional surface is a material different than the body of the finger and layered or coated to the body of the finger like members.
- 19. The device of claim 7, wherein the support member is an angle bar.
- 20. The device of claim 19 wherein fingers are attached to the support member perpendicularly to the bar with an axis of the bar and an adhesive in a groove along the longitudinal surface of the bar in the support member.
- 21. An apparatus for producing a rolled tab on a roll of plastic film comprising:
- (a) a means for propelling a roll of plastic film on the surface of trunion rollers of a conveyor line;
- (b) a means for transporting the roll of plastic film in between the surface of the trunion rollers of the conveyor line and an overhead drive means, said overhead drive means positioned above and parallel to the conveyor line such that the roll of plastic film is pressed in contact with the drive means and the trunion rollers of the conveyor line;
- (c) a means for rotating the roll of plastic film in between the overhead drive means and the trunion rollers of the conveyor line;
- (d) a means for biasing a traction device against the rotating roll of plastic film such that the traction device contacts the rotating roll of plastic film for a period of time sufficient to form a rolled tab on the roll of plastic film;
- (e) a means for retracting the traction device from contacting the rotating roll of plastic film; and
- (f) a means for propelling the roll of plastic film having a rolled tab from in between the drive means and the trunion rollers of the conveyor line to another use point.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 21 including a means for blowing air tangentially along the circumferential surface of the roll of plastic film to enhance roll tab formation.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 21 including a means for transporting the roll of plastic film with a rolled tab onto a coupon application assembly; and applying a coupon onto the surface of the roll of plastic film.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein the traction device comprises at least one finger-like member having a tractional surface for grabbing and rolling the leading edge of the roll of plastic film.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 24 wherein the traction device comprises a plurality of finger-like members generally spaced apart having a tractional surface for grabbing and rolling the leading edge of the roll of plastic film.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein the overhead drive means includes a traction belt rotating about the circumferential surface of drive rollers and driven by a drive motor.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein the roll of plastic film is rotated by the overhead drive means.
- 28. The apparatus of claim 21 wherein the roll of plastic film is rotated by the trunion rollers which are rotated by another drive means.
- 29. An apparatus for producing a roll of plastic film having a rolled tab comprising:
