The invention is in the field of apparel, specifically apparatuses that feature multiple configurable designs.
In many social settings, it is important to wear clothes that match the theme or surroundings. Unfortunately, many apparel pieces comprise only a single color or design, which means that one must predict the appropriate attire for any social setting. This can, and does, often result in an awkward situation where the individual chose the wrong color or design for their attire.
Additionally, if a person is going from one social event to another, they may wish to change their clothes' colors, patterns, or designs, which often means that the person must return to their wardrobe to re-dress before proceeding to the next event.
One solution may be to carry around multiple changes in clothing. But such a solution is overly burdensome on the individual, who must carry the extra clothing with them wherever they go. Another solution would be to simply leave whatever social event the person is at to go and change their outfit. However, this can be extremely time consuming and may deter the person from going back to the event.
Furthermore, people often have accidents in which they may spill drink or food onto their clothes, causing the clothes to become stained. The person's clothes may also become marked from dirt while travelling on the subway, through the course of physical labor, or taking a walk through a park.
Accordingly, it would be desirable to have clothing which may be configured into multiple colors or designs.
Additionally, it would be further desirable to have clothing which enables a person to conceal marks, stains, or damage sustained to the clothing.
In an aspect of the present disclosure, a configurable shirt may include a shirt including a front face, a rear face, a top half, and a bottom half. The bottom half may include an inner layer, and an outer layer. A top edge of the inner layer may be attached to an inside surface of the outer layer along a first horizontal perimeter of the shirt. The front face and rear face may border each other along a vertical perimeter of the shirt. The configurable shirt may further include an attachment perimeter along a second horizontal perimeter of the shirt. A bottom edge of the outer layer may include an attachment mechanism. The attachment mechanism may interface with the attachment perimeter to attach the bottom edge of the outer layer to the attachment perimeter. The configurable shirt may include a first position, and a second position. In the first position, the attachment mechanism may be attached to the attachment perimeter. In the second position, the attachment mechanism may not be attached to the attachment perimeter.
In an embodiment, the attachment mechanism may attach to the attachment perimeter via hook and loop.
In another embodiment, the attachment mechanism may attach to the attachment perimeter via a zipper.
In yet another embodiment, the attachment mechanism and attachment perimeter each may include at least one magnet. The at least one magnet of the attachment mechanism, and the at least one magnet of the attachment perimeter, may be attached via magnetic attraction.
In an embodiment, the configurable shirt may further include a bottom edge of the inner layer, and a bottom edge of the outer layer. The bottom edge of the inner layer, and the bottom edge of the outer layer, may be removably attached along their respective edges.
In another embodiment, the bottom edges of the inner and outer layers may attach via hook and loop.
In yet another embodiment, the bottom edges of the inner and outer layers may attach via a zipper.
In an embodiment, the bottom edges of the inner and outer layers each may include at least one magnet. The bottom edges of the inner and outer layers may attach via magnetic attraction.
In an embodiment, the invention of the present disclosure further comprises a plurality of configurations, the plurality of configurations comprising a first configuration wherein the front face is disposed proximate to a wearer's torso and the shirt is in the second position; a second configuration wherein the front face is disposed proximate to the wearer's torso and the shirt is in the first position; a third configuration wherein the rear face is disposed proximate to the wearer's torso and the shirt is in the second position; and a fourth configuration wherein the rear face is disposed proximate to the wearer's torso and the shirt is in the first position. The shirt may further include one or more cutaways disposed on each side of the outer layer. In another embodiment, the shirt includes a first distance and a second distance, wherein the first distance is the distance along the vertical perimeter from the first horizontal perimeter to the bottom edge of the outer layer, wherein the second distance is the distance along the vertical perimeter from the first horizontal perimeter to a starting edge of a sleeve, and wherein the first distance and the second distance are equal. In an embodiment, the shirt may further comprising a first stripe, a second stripe, and a third stripe, wherein the first stripe is facing away from the wearer in the first configuration, and wherein the first stripe, the second stripe, and the third stripe are facing away from the wearer in the second configuration.
In an embodiment, the outer layer may be removable. In another embodiment, the attachment mechanism is disposed on an inside surface of the bottom edge of the outside layer. In an alternate embodiment, the attachment mechanism is disposed on an outside surface of the bottom edge of the outside layer

The shirt 100 may be constructed into various sizes. In an embodiment, such sizes may include a small, medium, large, or extra-large size. These sizes may include a chest circumference measurement of 91-96, 96-101, 101-106, or 106-111 millimeters respectively. However, the shirt 100 may be constructed into additional sizes as deemed necessary.
The shirt 100 may include a front face 102, and a rear face 104. In an embodiment, the front face 102 of the shirt 100, and the rear face 104 of the shirt 100, meet along a vertical perimeter 106 of the shirt 100. The vertical perimeter 106 may be located at an approximate center point between the front face 102 and rear face 104 of the shirt 100. However, the vertical perimeter 106 may be located along any point between the front face 102 and the rear face 104 of the shirt 100.
The front face 102 and rear face 104 of the shirt 100 may feature different colors, patterns, textures, ancillary features, or designs. For example, the front face 102 may be blue, while the rear face 104 may be red. As another example, the front face 102 may feature a “zig-zag” pattern, while the rear face 104 may feature a vertical stripe pattern. However, any color or design may be used on either of the front face 102 or rear face 104 of the shirt 100. Ancillary features may include pockets, buttons, stitches, patches, or other apparel attachments or decorations.
The shirt 100 may include a top half 108, and a bottom half 110. In an embodiment, the top half 108 of the shirt 100, and the bottom half 110 of the shirt 100, meet along a horizontal perimeter 112 of the shirt 100. The horizontal perimeter 112 may be located at an approximate center point between a top end 114 and a bottom end 116 of the shirt 100. However, the horizontal perimeter 112 may be located along any point between the top end 114 and bottom end 116 of the shirt 100.

A bottom edge of the inner layer 118, and a bottom edge of the outer layer 120 may be removably attached to each other. In an embodiment, the bottom ends of the inner and outer layers 118-120 may attach via one or more buttons. Other embodiments may include attachments via hook and loop, or magnets. The means of attachment between the bottom ends of the inner and outer layers 118-120 may be the same as the means of attachment between the bottom edge of the outer layer 120, and an attachment perimeter 212, which is discussed in greater detail below.

The shirt 100 may be configured in such a way that the front and rear faces 102-104 of the shirt 100, and the front and rear faces of the second and third stripes 208-210, are all different colors and/or designs. This may allow for up to four different configurations of the shirt 100.
The first configuration may include the front face 102 of the shirt 100 being positioned such that it is disposed proximate to a wearer's torso, and the outer layer 120 is not in a reflected position. In an embodiment, in the first configuration, the first stripe 206 is visible to an onlooker and the second stripe 209 and third stripe 210 are invisible to an onlooker.
The second configuration may include the front face 102 of the shirt 100 being positioned such that it is disposed proximate to a wearer's torso, and the outer layer 120 is in a reflected position. In an embodiment, in the second configuration, the first stripe 206, the second stripe 208, and the third stripe 210 are visible to an onlooker.
The third configuration may include the rear face 102 of the shirt 100 being positioned such that it is disposed proximate to a wearer's torso, and the outer layer 120 not being in a reflected position. In an embodiment, in the third configuration, a first rear stripe (not shown) is visible to an onlooker and a second rear stripe (not shown) and third rear stripe (not shown) are invisible to an onlooker. The first rear stripe, the second rear stripe, and the third rear strip may manifest in a manner similar to the first stripe 206, the second stripe 208, and the third stripe 210 (collectively, the “front stripes”), where the rear stripes present on the rear face 104, as opposed to the front face 102 (like the first stripe 206, the second stripe 208, and the third stripe 210). Accordingly, the mechanics which render the second and third stripes 208-210 visible or invisible may be utilized to render the second and third rear stripes visible or invisible.
The fourth configuration may include the rear face 102 of the shirt 100 being positioned such that it is disposed proximate to a wearer's torso, and the outer layer 120 is in a reflected position. Accordingly, the first rear stripe, the second rear stripe, and the third rear stripe may be visible to an onlooker.
When in its reflected position, the bottom edge of the outer layer 120 may attach to the top half 108 of the shirt 100 along an attachment perimeter 212. The outer layer 120 may attach to the top half 108 of the shirt 100 via a variety of methods. Such methods may include hook and loop, zipper, magnets, or series of buttons. In an embodiment, one or more attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the bottom edge of the outer layer 120. For example, the attachment mechanisms may be configured to releasably attach to the bottom edge of the inner layer 118 and the attachment perimeter 212. Therefore, the attachment perimeter 212 and/or the top half 108 includes the same attachment receiving mechanism as the bottom edge of the inner layer 118.
In an embodiment, when reflecting the outer layer 120, the wearer may flip the bottom portion of the outer layer 120 when attaching the outer layer 120 to the attachment perimeter 212. For example, in order to obscure the attachment mechanism in the first configuration, the attachment mechanism may be disposed on the inside surface of the bottom portion of the outer layer 120. Accordingly, as the outer layer is reflected 120, the bottom of the outer layer 120 may be turned inward, to interface the attachment mechanism with the shirt top 108. For example, a one-inch section of the bottom portion of the outer layer 120 may be flipped inward.
However, in another embodiment, the attachment mechanism may be disposed on the outside surface of the outer layer 120. In such an embodiment, the outer layer 120 may simply be reflected and attached to the attachment perimeter 212.
The bottom edge of the outer layer 120 may further split into two layers. Such layer may have a length of less than 0.5 inches. In an embodiment, the attachment mechanism is concealed between the two layers such that the user may access the attachment mechanism by moving the two layers away from each other. Such an embodiment allows the attachment mechanism on the outer layer 120 to be invisible when not in use.
In an embodiment, attachment mechanisms may be disposed at intervals along the perimeter of the bottom of the outer layer 120. In such an embodiment, attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the front face 102 of the top half 108, the rear face 102 of the top half, and on each side of the shirt 100 proximate to the vertical perimeter 106. In an embodiment, any number of attachment mechanisms may be utilized. For example, two attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the front face 102 and two attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the rear face 104. In another non-limiting example, two attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the front face 102, two attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the rear face 104, and an attachment mechanism may be disposed at each side of the vertical perimeter 106. In a further non-limiting example, at least three attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the front face 102 and at least three attachment mechanisms may be disposed on the rear face 104.
The shirt 100 may include an unreflected locked state and an unreflected unlocked state. In an embodiment, in the unreflected locked state, the outer layer 120 is unreflected and the outer layer 120 is fastened to the inner layer 118. In an embodiment, in the unreflected unlocked state, the outer layer 120 is unreflected and the outer layer 120 is not fastened to the inner layer 118. In an unreflected unlocked state, the outer layer 120 may be prepared for attachment to the top half 108.
In an embodiment, the outer layer 120 includes two cutaways (not shown). Each cutaway may be positioned at the sides of the shirt 100, bisected by the vertical perimeter 106. Accordingly, the cutaways may be configured such that the outer layer 120 may be reflected, without negatively interfering with the sleeves of the shirt. For example, the cutaways may represent a portion of fabric “missing” from the outer layer 120, such that when reflected, the outer layer 120 seamlessly interfaces with the top half 108.
However, in another embodiment, the length of the bottom half 110 of the outer layer 120 along the vertical perimeter is configured such that reflection of the outer layer 120 does not negatively interfere with the sleeves. For example, the horizontal perimeter 112 may be disposed at a vertical position, such that the distance from the bottom of the vertical perimeter 106 to the horizontal perimeter 112 is the same as the distance from horizontal perimeter 112 to the starting point of the sleeve along the vertical perimeter 106.
In an embodiment, the shirt 100 may be configured with a first design, wherein the first design is visible in the first configuration. Similarly, the shirt 100 may include a second design, wherein the second design is visible in the second configuration. Accordingly, the second design may include portions of the first design, for example, elements of the first design on the first stripe 206 may “seamlessly” integrate with elements of the second design on the second stripe 208.
The outer layer 120 may be removable from the shirt 100. In such an embodiment, the shirt 100 may be worn without the outer layer 120. Removal of the outer layer 120 may make for easier washing of the shirt 100. Additionally, a removable outer layer 120 may allow for interchangeability with various other removable outer layers 120. For example, each removable outer layer 120 may include various designs configured to interact differently with the designs of the first strip 206.
