a dumping assembly, which loads and conveys particulate matters to be bagged; a bag feeding assembly for conveying and positioning bags relative to said dumping assembly as said bags are filled; and a sewing machine assembly, which stitches said bags to seal them.
- 2. The machine for filling bags of claim 1, wherein:
said sewing machine assembly includes a sewing head.
- 3. The machine for filling bags of claim 2, wherein:
said sewing head is laterally stationary, and said bag filling machine includes a bag moving assembly which moves said bags relative to said sewing head.
- 4. The machine for filling bags of claim 3, wherein:
said bag moving assembly includes a sewing traveler.
- 5. The machine for filling bags of claim 4, wherein:
said sewing traveler clamps said bag and pulls it through said sewing machine assembly.
- 6. The machine for filling bags of claim 5, wherein:
said sewing traveler clamps said bag above and below a stitch line.
- 7. The machine for filling bags of claim 5, further comprising:
a bag clamp, which holds the tops of said bags closed after said bags are filled with particulate matter, as said sewing traveler pulls said bags through said sewing machine.
- 8. The machine for filling bags of claim 2 wherein:
said sewing head moves laterally stationary, relative to said bags.
- 9. The machine for filling bags of claim 1, wherein:
bags are fed to said bag feeding assembly from a roll of bags.
- 10. The machine for filling bags of claim 9, further comprising:
a cutting assembly, by which bags are separated from said roll of bags.
- 11. The machine for filling bags of claim 10, wherein:
said cutting assembly includes cutter backers which hold said bags in position for cutting by a cutting blade.
- 12. A sand bag filling apparatus for filling a bag with sand, comprising:
a fill channel having an open end and an interior sized to hold a predetermined amount of sand, said fill channel being moveable along a fixed path from a first position exterior of said bag to a second position wherein at least a portion of said fill channel is positioned within the interior of said bag; and a sewing machine assembly, which stitches said bags closed to seal them.
- 13. The sand bag filling apparatus of claim 12 further comprising:
a bag feeding assembly for conveying and positioning bags relative to said fill channel as said bags are filled.
- 14. A method for filling bags with particulate matters comprising:
providing a dumping assembly, which loads and conveys particulate matters to be bagged; providing a bag feeding assembly for conveying and positioning bags relative to said dumping assembly as said bags are filled; and providing a sewing machine assembly, which stitches said bags to seal them.
- 15. A method for filling a series of bags with particulate matter comprising:
providing the plurality of bags connected in an end-to end fashion, each of said bags having a bag opening and a bag bottom; providing a fill channel having a first end having and inlet opening, a second end having an outlet opening, and a substantially open interior therebetween; placing at least a portion of said second end within the interior of one of said plurality of bags such that said outlet opening is in close proximity to said bag bottom of said one bag; depositing a desired amount of particulate matter within said interior of said fill channel; withdrawing said fill channel from within the interior of said one bag to release said amount of particulate matter from said interior of said fill channel and into said interior of said bag to fill said bag with said amount of particulate matter; and sewing said bag shut after filling it.
- 16. The method of claim 15 further comprising;
cutting said one bag from a next bag adjacent thereto after said sewing said bag shut.
