Claims
- 1. A remotely piloted vehicle capturing and securing system, the remotely piloted vehicle including a line and means to be snagged connected therto; the system comprising a snag line carried as part of the securing system which "snags" the means to be snagged on the remotely piloted vehicle line and assists the remotely piloted vehicle to a safe landing, the snag line extending from a winch unit proximate the proposed landing area of the remotely piloted vehicle to a position on a ship to which it is removably secured, and proximate the end of the snag line is disposed securing means which will secure the means to be snagged on the RPV.
- 2. The securing system of claim 1, wherein the means to be snagged with the remotely piloted vehicle is a line extending from the remotely piloted vehicle with a hook on the end.
- 3. The securing system of claim 1, wherein a ball is provided on the end of the remotely piloted vehicle line and the end of the snag line comprises complementary means for holding the means on the end of the line on the remotely piloted vehicle thereto as the snag line is winched in.
- 4. The system of claim 1, wherein the winch unit is provided to winch the snag line and further comprises tension control drive means for operating a crenelated winch drum.
- 5. The system of claim 2, wherein the winch unit is provided to winch the snag line and further comprises tension control drive means for operating a winch drum.
- 6. The system of claim 3, wherein the winch unit is provided to winch the snag line and further comprises tension control drive means for operating a winch drum.
- 7. The system of claim 4, wherein the snag line is reeled in with the remotely piloted vehicle line secured to it thus reeling in the remotely piloted vehicle by a separate reel which carries a mouth into which the snag line and line on the remotely piloted vehicle are directed.
- 8. The system of claim 2, wherein the snag line is reeled in with the remotely piloted vehicle line secured to it thus reeling in the remotely piloted vehicle by a separate reel which carries a mouth into which the snag line and line on the RPV are directed.
- 9. The system of claim 3, wherein the snag line is reeled in with the remotely piloted vehicle line secured to it thus reeling in the remotely piloted vehicle by a separate reel which carries a mouth into which the snag line and line on the remotely piloted vehicle are directed.
- 10. The system of claim 7, 8 or 9, wherein the reel carries a vertically disposed ring which is larger than the means to be snagged on the end of the line secured to the remotely piloted vehicle and complementary means on the snag line which pass there through, the ring being aligned with the crenelated winch drum and a cylinder of linear electrical activator or other means used to transport the ring into the winch drum carrying at least the line of the remotely piloted vehicle into the winch drum which is activated to wind remotely piloted vehicle line.
