Claims
- 1. Apparatus for cementing an oil well borehole from a floating vessel, comprising:
- sliding sleeve cementing valve, adapted to be interconnected with a casing string; and
- a drill string, including:
- a drill pipe;
- an opening positioner, connected to said drill pipe, for opening said cementing valve;
- an anchor means, connected to said opening positioner, to provide sufficient resistance, between said drill string and said casing string, to operate a motion compensator on said floating vessel; and
- an isolation packer, connected to said anchor means.
- 2. Apparatus of claim 1, wherein:
- said isolation packer is an extended length isolation packer, having a distance of at least fifteen feet between an upper packer assembly and a lower packer assembly.
- 3. Apparatus of claim 1, wherein said isolation packer comprises:
- an upper tubular body assembly;
- a lower tubular body assembly;
- a middle body, connected between said upper and lower tubular body assemblies;
- an upper inner mandrel, communicating axial bores of said upper tubular body assembly and said middle body;
- a lower inner mandrel, communicating said axial bore of said middle body and an axial bore of said lower tubular body assembly;
- port means, communicating an inner cavity of said upper inner mandrel with an annular cavity between said upper tubular body assembly and said casing string;
- an upper packer assembly, attached to said upper tubular body assembly, above said port means;
- a closing positioner, attached to said upper tubular body assembly; and
- a lower packer assembly, attached to said lower tubular body assembly.
- 4. Apparatus of claim 3, wherein:
- said port means comprises a slip joint port valve;
- said upper packer assembly includes first and second sealing cups for sealingly engaging an interior of said oil well casing string, said first cup being located above said second cup and being concave upwards to seal against flow of fluids in a downward direction, and said second cup being concave downwards to seal against flow of fluids in an upward direction; and
- said lower packer assembly includes a third cup, said third cup being concave upwards.
- 5. Apparatus of claim 3, further comprising:
- a bypass, communicating an outer surface of said upper tubular body assembly, above said upper packer assembly, with an outer surface of said lower tubular body assembly, below said lower packer assembly, said bypass being in fluid isolation from said inner cavity of said upper inner mandrel.
- 6. Apparatus of claim 5, wherein said bypass comprises:
- an upper annular cavity between said upper tubular body assembly and said upper inner mandrel;
- a lower annular cavity between said lower tubular body assembly and said lower inner mandrel;
- a middle body bypass means, communicating said upper annular cavity with said lower annular cavity;
- an upper radial bore in said upper tubular body assembly, intersecting said upper annular cavity above said upper packer assembly; and
- a lower radial bore in said lower tubular body assembly, intersecting said lower annular cavity below said lower packer assembly.
- 7. Apparatus of claim 6, wherein:
- said middle body bypass means comprises an outer jacket defining a middle annular cavity between said jacket and said middle body, said middle annular cavity communicating said upper and lower annular cavities.
- 8. Apparatus of claim 1, wherein:
- said opening positioner is a selective release opening positioner.
