Claims
- 1. Apparatus for pigging heater tubing in an operating heater, the heater tubing having inlet tubing and outlet tubing, the apparatus comprising:
return tubing connected to the inlet tubing at a first junction and to the outlet tubing at a second junction; pig launching and receiving equipment connected for launching of pigs into and removal of pigs from the heater tubing and return tubing; an outlet valve on the outlet tubing downstream of the second junction; a first pig tripper on the outlet tubing; a return valve on the return tubing; and a second pig tripper near the inlet tubing for detecting when the pig is close to the inlet tubing.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 in which the pig launching and receiving equipment comprises:
a pig launcher mounted parallel to one of the heater tubing and the return tubing; and a pig receiver mounted parallel to one of the heater tubing and the return tubing.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2 in which a single combined pig launcher and receiver functions as the pig launcher and the pig receiver.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising:
a boost pump connected to the outlet tubing by a boost pump connection pipe.
- 5. A pig launcher and receiver comprising:
tubing in which fluids may flow; a pig launcher and receiver body, the pig launcher and receiver body having an interior cavity for receiving pigs, and a motive fluid inlet and a motive fluid outlet, and an access aperture for removal of pigs from and insertion of pigs into the pig launcher and receiver body; an inlet pipe connected to the tubing at a first junction and connected to the motive fluid inlet; an outlet pipe connected to the tubing at a second junction and connected to the motive fluid outlet; an inlet valve on the inlet pipe; and an outlet valve on the outlet pipe.
- 6. The pig launcher and receiver of claim 5 in which the motive fluid outlet and the motive fluid inlet are located at opposite ends of the interior cavity.
- 7. The pig launcher and receiver of claim 6 in which the inlet valve is a three-way full port valve located at the first junction.
- 8. The pig launcher and receiver of claim 7 in which the outlet valve is a three-way full port valve located at the second junction.
- 9. The pig launcher and receiver of claim 5 further comprising a valve on the tubing between the first junction and the second junction.
- 10. Apparatus for pigging heater tubing in an operating heater, the heater tubing having inlet tubing and outlet tubing, the apparatus comprising:
pig launching and receiving equipment connected for launching of pigs into and removal of pigs from the heater tubing; a pig tripper on one of the inlet tubing and the outlet tubing for detecting passage of the pig; and an outlet valve on the outlet tubing for controlling flow into the receiving equipment in response to the pig tripper.
