Claims
- 1. A digital signal recording apparatus for compressing and recording plural types of digital signals on a recording medium, comprising:
- encoding means, including at least first encoding means and second encoding means, for compressing and encoding he plural types of digital signals, input within an unit time, each with a variable reduction rate;
- recording means for recording the plural types of encoded digital signals on the recording medium; and
- control means for controlling the variable reduction rate of each of the plural types of digital signals in said encoding means so that a sum of a varying information amount of the plural types of encoded digital signals is maintained within a predetermined amount of data range;
- said control means controlling said first encoding means such that a variable amount of a first type of digital signals output from said first encoding means is dependent on an output of said second encoding means.
- 2. The digital signal recording apparatus of claim 1, wherein the variable reduction rate of each of the plural types of digital signals is controlled based on a varying informaton amount of digital signals other than those of which the variable reduction rate is controlled.
- 3. The digital signal recording apparatus of claim 2, wherein the varying information amount of each of the plural types of digital signals is obtained based on a random shuffling of each type of digital signal.
- 4. The digital signal recording apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plural types of digital signals include the first type of digital signals and a second type of digital signals which are loosely correlated with each other, wherein a variable reduction rate of the first type of digital signals in said control means is controlled based on the varying information amount of the second type of digital signals, and a variable reduction rate of the second type of digital signals is controlled based on the varying information amount of the first type of digital signals.
- 5. The digital signal recording apparatus of claim 4, wherein the first type of digital signals are digitized video signals and the second type of digital signals are digitized audio signals.
- 6. The digital signal recording apparatus of claim 5, wherein the digitized audio signals include multi-channel audio signals;
- said digital signal recording apparatus further comprising:
- audio selecting means for selecting the multi-channel audio signal channels to be recorded.
- 7. The digital signal recording apparatus of claim 1, wherein encoding by said encoding means is separately performed on each of the plural types of digital signals.
- 8. A digital signal reproducing apparatus for reproducing plural types of digital signals from a recording medium on which the plural types of digital signals are recorded by controlling a variable reduction rate of each of the plural types of digital signals used by at least a first and second encoder so that a sum of a varying information amount of the plural types of encoded digital signals input within a unit time is maintained within a predetermined amount of data range, comprising:
- means for reproducing the plural types of compressed and encoded digital signals from the recording medium;
- decoding means for expanding and decoding the plural type of reproduced digital signals with a variable expansion rate; and
- control means for detecting the variable reduction rate of each of the plural types of digital signals recorded on the recording medium to control the variable expansion rate of each of the plural types of digital signals in said decoding means;
- wherein the first encoder was controlled such that a variable amount of the first type of digital signals output from the first encoder was dependent on an output of the second encoder.
- 9. A digital signal encoding apparatus for compressing and encoding plural types of digital signals, comprising:
- encoding means including at least a first and second encoder for compressing and encoding the plural types of digital signals input within a unit time with a variable reduction rate; and
- control means for controlling the variable reduction rate of each of the plural types of digital signals in said encoding means so that a sum of a varying information amount of the plural types of encoded digital signals is maintained within a predetermined amount of data range;
- said control means controlling said first encoder such that a variable amount of a first type of digital signals output from said first encoder is dependent on an output of said second encoder.
- 10. The digital signal encoding apparatus of claim 9, wherein the variable reduction rate of each of the plural types of digital signals in said control means is controlled based on a varying information amount of digital signals other than those of which the variable reduction rate is controlled.
- 11. The digital signal encoding apparatus of claim 9, wherein the plural types of digital signals include a first type of digital signals and a second type of digital signals which are loosely correlated with each other, and said control means controls a variable reduction rate of the first type of digital signals based on a varying information amount of the second type of digital signals and controls a variable reduction rate of the second type of digital signals based on a varying information amount of the first type of digital signals.
- 12. The digital signal encoding apparatus of claim 11, wherein the first type of digital signals are digitized video signals and the second type of digital signals are digitized audio signals.
- 13. The digital signal encoding apparatus of claim 12, wherein the digitized audio signals include multi-channel audio signals;
- said digital signal encoding apparatus further comprising:
- audio selecting means for selecting the multi-channel audio signal channels to be encoded.
- 14. The digital signal encoding apparatus of claim 9, wherein encoding by said encoding means is separately performed on each of the plural types of digital signals.
- 15. The digital signal encoding apparatus of claim 9, wherein the varying information amount of each of the plural types of digital signal is obtained based on a random shuffling of each type of digital signal.
- 16. A digital signal encoding apparatus for compressing and encoding digital video signals and multi-channel digital audio signals input within a unit time, comprising:
- first encoding means for compressing and encoding the digital video signals with a variable reduction rate;
- audio selecting means for selecting digital audio signals to be encoded from the multi-channel digital audio signals;
- second encoding means for encoding the selected digital audio signals; and
- control means for controlling the variable reduction rate of the digital video signals in said first encoding means according to a number of the selected digital audio signal channels so that a sum of a varying information amount of the encoded digital video signals and a varying information amount of the encoded digital audio signals is maintained within a predetermined amount of data range;
- said control means controlling said first encoding means such that a variable amount of the digital video signals output from said first encoding means is dependent on an output of said second encoding means.
- 17. A digital signal decoding apparatus for decoding plural types of digital signals of which respective reduction rates of at least a first and second encoder are controlled so that a sum of a varying information amount of the plural types of encoded digital signals input within a unit time is maintained within a predetermined amount of data range, comprising:
- decoding means for expanding and decoding the plural types of compressed and encoded digital signals with a variable expansion rate; and
- control means for detecting a reduction rate of each of the plural types of input digital signals to control an expansion rate of each of the plural types of digital signals in said decoding means;
- wherein the first encoder was controlled such that a variable amount of the first type of digital signals output from the first encoder was dependent on an output of the second encoder.
- 18. An apparatus, comprising:
- a controller for limiting a total combined data amount of a variable amount of audio data and a variable amount of video data to no more than a predetermined amount by variably compressing the variable amount of video data, where the predetermined amount is less than a sum of a maximum audio capacity and a maximum video capacity;
- said controller controlling a video encoder such that a variable amount of video data output from the video encoder is dependent on an output of an audio encoder.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the maximum audio capacity is less than the predetermined amount.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 18, said controller limiting the total combined data amount of the variable amount of audio data and the variable amount of video data to no more than the predetermined amount by also variably compressing the variable amount of audio data.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the variable amount of audio data varies according to a number of supplied audio channels.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the variable amount of audio data varies according to a character of the audio data.
- 23. A digital encoding apparatus, comprising:
- an audio encoder encoding a variable amount of audio data;
- a video encoder encoding a variable amount of video data; and
- a controller controlling said video encoder to reduce a sum of the variable amount of audio data and the variable amount of video data to no more than a predetermined amount by variably compressing the variable amount of video data;
- said controller controlling said video encoder such that the variable amount of video data output from said video encoder is dependent on an output of said audio encoder.
- 24. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, said controller further controlling said audio encoder to reduce the sum of the variable amount of audio data and the variable amount of video data to no more than the predetermined amount by also variably compressing the variable amount of audio data.
- 25. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein the variable amount of audio data varies according to a number of supplied audio channels.
- 26. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein the variable amount of audio data varies according to a character of the audio data.
- 27. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein the output of said audio encoder is a free amount of audio information.
- 28. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein the output of said audio encoder is a function of an estimated amount of audio information.
- 29. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, said controller further controlling said audio encoder such that the variable amount of audio data output from said audio encoder is dependent on an output of said video encoder.
- 30. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein said controller limits a total combined data amount of the variable amount of audio data and the variable amount of video data to no more than a predetermined amount by controlling said video encoder to variably compress the variable amount of video data, where the predetermined amount is less than a sum of a maximum audio capacity and a maximum video capacity.
- 31. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 30, wherein the maximum audio capacity is less than the predetermined amount.
- 32. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 30, wherein said controller limits the total combined data amount of the variable amount of audio data and the variable amount of video data to no more than the predetermined amount by also controlling said audio encoder to variably compress the variable amount of audio data.
- 33. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein the variable amount of audio data varies according to a number of supplied audio channels.
- 34. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein the variable amount of audio data varies according to a character of the audio data.
- 35. The digital encoding apparatus of claim 23, wherein the variable amount of video data varies according to a character of the video data.
