Claims
- 1. Apparatus for controlling the working conditions between two rotating cylinders equipped with a point clothing, and on the cylindrical surface of which a fiber web is mutually transferred, and which cooperate at a small mutual distance of a processing machine of a staple fiber spinning plant, characterized in that a measuring element is provided for continuously or cyclically scanning a characteristic which is directly connected with the dimensions of at least one of the two cylinders and that the support members of at least one cylinder are arranged movable mutually parallel in a plane substantially parallel to the plane containing the axes of both cylinders, and that moving elements for the movable support members of the cylinder and control means are provided, which control the moving elements in function of the characteristic scanned.
- 2. Apparatus for controlling the working conditions between two rotating cylinders equipped with a point clothing, and on the cylindrical surface of which a fiber web is processed, and which cooperate at a small mutual distance, of a processing machine of a staple fiber spinning plant, characterized in that the two cylinders are arranged substantially coaxial, and that a measuring element for continuously or cyclically scanning a characteristic directly connected with the dimensions of one of the two cylinders is provided, and that moving elements are provided, using which the diameter of at least one cylinder can be changed, and which are controlled by control means in function of the characteristic scanned.
- 3. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the processing machine is a card.
- 4. Apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that the two rotating cylinders are the main drum or main cylinder and the doffer cylinder.
- 5. Apparatus according to claim 4, characterized in that the two rotating cylinders are the main cylinder and the taker-in or licker-in roll.
- 6. Apparatus according to claim 4, characterized in that the two rotating cylinders are the main cylinder and at least one rotating worker roll of a roller card.
- 7. Apparatus according to claim 4, characterized in that the two rotating cylinders are the main cylinder and the inner arc of the revolving flat chain of a revolving flat card.
- 8. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the measuring element is designed as a feeler for the diameter of the cylinder.
- 9. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the measuring element is designed as a temperature gauge for the temperature of the surface of the cylinder.
- 10. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the measuring element is designed as a measuring instrument for the rotational speed of the cylinders.
- 11. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the control means for their control function are pre-programmed according to the direct connection between the dimensions of the cylinder and the characteristic scanned.
- 12. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the moving elements consist of a distance-changing mechanical connection.
- 13. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the moving elements consist of a driven threaded spindle.
- 14. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the moving elements consist of a thermically expandable metal rod.
- 15. Apparatus according to claim 14, characterized in that the metal rod is surrounded by a protective cover, within which a fluid heatable by a heat supply device is contained, the temperature of which fluid is controlled by the control means.
- 16. Apparatus according to claim 14, characterized in that the heat supply device is an electrical resistor heating the metal rod directly.
- 17. Apparatus according to claim 16, characterized in that the heat supply device is a system with warm air circulation.
- 18. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that common control means control a plurality of moving elements.
- 19. In combination,
- a pair of rotatable cylinders disposed in spaced apart relation to define a predetermined gap therebetween, each said cylinder having a point clothing thereon and being rotatable about a respective longitudinal axis thereof;
- a pair of support members, each said member having a respective cylinder rotatably mounted thereon, at least one of said support members being movable in a first plane parallel to a plane containing said axes of said cylinders;
- a measuring element for scanning a characteristic directly related to the dimensions of at least one of said cylinders and for transmitting a signal in response thereto;
- moving elements connected to said one support member for moving said one member in said first plane; and
- a control means for receiving said signal of said measuring element and for transmitting a control signal to said moving elements in response thereto to maintain said gap.
- 20. The combination as set forth in claim 19 wherein said measuring element operates cyclically.
- 21. The combination as set forth in claim 19 wherein said measuring element operates continuously.
- 22. In combination,
- a pair of rotatable cylinders disposed in coaxial relation to define a predetermined gap therebetween, each said cylinder having a point clothing thereon;
- a pair of support members, each said member having a respective cylinder rotatably mounted thereon, at least one of said support members being movable in a first plane parallel to a plane containing said axex of said cylinders;
- a measuring element for scanning a characteristic directly related to the dimensions of at least one of said cylinders and for transmitting a signal in response thereto;
- moving elements connected to one of said support members for moving said one support member radially of the other of said support members; and
- a control means for receiving said signal of said measuring element and for transmitting a control signal to said moving elements in response thereto to maintain said gap.
