- 8. Apparatus as set forth in claim 7 wherein said common mounting means has an opening within which said second guide means is arranged.
- 9. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said support roller is adapted to be driven in rotation in the cutting operation, in dependence on the speed at which the roller is displaceable with respect to the web.
- 10. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 including a web guide roller disposed adjacent said support roller and adapted to be driven in rotation in the cutting operation, in dependence on the speed at which the roller is displaceable with respect to the web.
- 11. Apparatus as set forth in claim 9 including at least two driven web guide rollers each arranged at a respective spacing from the blade, gear wheels adapted to drive said driven guide rollers and said support roller, and a common flexible elongate drive means interconnecting said gear wheels and extending parallel to the path of the web in the region in which the drive means moves in the same direction as the web.
- 12. Apparatus as set forth in claim 7 wherein said second mounting means includes a carriage carrying the blade and provided with an elongate recess means which extends perpendicularly to the path of movement of the blade, and further including a drive means, a drive member for displacing said carriage and comprising a double-armed lever, a drive member on a first arm of said lever engaging into said recess means, and a cam follower disposed on the second arm of said lever and co-operable with a cam means on a rotatable member, the cam means corresponding to the desired movement of the blade.
- 13. Apparatus as set forth in claim 12 wherein said common mounting means has a recess means which extends perpendicularly to the path of movement of the common mounting means, and further including a drive means comprising a driven member adapted to drive a drive member operatively engaged with said recess means.
- 14. Apparatus as set forth in claim 13 wherein said driven member is a crank arm.
- 15. Apparatus as set forth in claim 14 wherein said crank arm is mounted rotatably and adjustably on said rotatable member for driving said carriage.
- 16. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 including an adjustable transmission means in the drive transmission of the means for displacing the web.
- 17. Apparatus as set forth in claim 5 including means for transmitting drive to said common mounting means for displacement thereof.
- 18. Apparatus as set forth in claim 7 including means for transmitting drive to said second mounting means for displacement thereof.
- 19. Apparatus as set forth in claim 17 wherein said means is adjustable.
- 20. Apparatus as set forth in claim 17 wherein said means is interchangeable.
- 21. Apparatus as set forth in claim 18 wherein said means is adjustable.
- 22. Apparatus as set forth in claim 18 wherein said means is interchangeable.
- 23. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein the rotary movement of the support roller during the cutting operation is derived from the stroke movement of the blade.
- 24. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein a first web guide roller is disposed upstream of the support roller and a second web guide roller is disposed downstream of the support roller, both web guide rollers being arranged to be reciprocable with the support roller.
- 25. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein the axis of said support roller is at an acute angle to a line parallel to the blade and perpendicular to the direction of movement of the web.
- 26. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein the longitudinal axis of the cut-out portion which is defined by the blade is at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the web.
- 27. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein the blade has a plurality of blade portions whereby the overall cut-out portion which is defined by the blade comprises a plurality of individual portions.
- 28. An assembly comprising apparatus as set forth in claim 1 and at least one apparatus for applying print to the web, disposed upstream of the cutting apparatus whereby the web is passed through all the apparatuses in a working operation.
- 29. An assembly comprising apparatus as set forth in claim 1 and at least one apparatus for applying print to the web, disposed downstream of the cutting apparatus whereby the web is passed through all the apparatuses in a working operation.
- 30. Apparatus for punch cutting portions from a web, comprising means for displacing the web, blade means for punch cutting said web, means for engaging said blade means with and disengaging said blade means from the web, means for displacing said blade means in an adjustable cutting stroke movement and a support member comprising a plurality of rotary rollers disposed in a stationary arrangement one beside the other at small spacings from each other, and wherein the region within which the rollers are arranged is at least as long as the dimension of at least one said portion to be cut out.
