- pump drive signal generating means for generating a signal to said pump to cause said pump to start a suction operation in response to said additional instruction signal, wherein said instruction signal and said additional instruction signal are produced after said wiping operation is completed.
- 4. The ink jet recording apparatus of claim 3, wherein when said computed print quantity difference is smaller than a preset value, said control circuit produces the instruction signal and the additional instruction signal to said cap member drive signal generating means and said pump drive signal generating means, respectively.
- 5. An ink jet recording apparatus, comprising:
- an ink jet printhead for forming dots on a recording sheet by shooting ink jets from an array of nozzles;
- a wiping mechanism for contacting the face of said nozzles to perform a wiping operation by wiping said nozzle face;
- wiping mechanism driving means for driving said wiping mechanism into contact with said nozzle face; and
- a control circuit responsive to a signal received from a recovery button provided on a printer chassis, said control circuit including means for computing a difference between a time of a present depression of said recovery button and a time of a previous depression thereof, means for determining a wiping time on a basis of the computed difference, and means for effecting said wiping operation according to said determined wiping time.
- 6. The ink jet recording apparatus of claim 5, further comprising:
- a cap member which, when placed in contact with a nozzle surface of said printhead, forms a hermetically sealed head receiving chamber;
- cap member drive means for placing said cap member in contact with said print head and including means for separating said cap member from said printhead; and
- cap member drive signal generating means for generating a signal to said cap member drive means to place said cap member in contact with said printhead, wherein said control circuit further including means for producing an instruction signal to said cap member drive signal generating means, said instruction signal being provided to operate said cap member drive signal generating means according to said determined wiping time.
- 7. The ink jet recording apparatus of claim 6, wherein said control circuit further includes means for producing an additional instruction signal and said ink jet recording apparatus further comprises:
- a pump for applying a negative pressure to said cap member so as to extract ink through said nozzles; and
- pump drive signal generating means for generating a signal to said pump to cause said pump to start a suction operation in response to said additional instruction signal, wherein said instruction signal and said additional instruction signal are produced after said wiping operation is completed.
- 8. The ink jet recording apparatus of claim 7, wherein when said computed time difference is smaller than a preset value, said control circuit produces an instruction signal and the additional instruction signal to said cap member drive signal generating means and said pump drive signal generating means, respectively.
- 9. The ink jet recording apparatus of claim 7, wherein said cap member is disposed outside a print region.
- 10. An ink jet recording apparatus, comprising:
- an ink jet printhead for forming dots on a recording sheet by shooting ink jets from an array of nozzles;
- a wiping mechanism for contacting the face of said nozzles to perform a wiping operation by wiping said nozzle face;
- wiping mechanism driving means for driving said wiping mechanism into contact with said nozzle face; and
- a control circuit responsive to a signal received from a recovery button provided on a printer chassis, said control circuit including means for computing a difference between a particular quantity at a present depression of said recovery button and a particular quantity at a previous depression, determining a wiping time on a basis of a computed difference, and means for effecting said wiping operation according to said determined wiping time.
