Claims
- 1. In a still video camera having an image pick-up device having a light receiving surface, said image pick-up device being provided on said light receiving surface with arrays of photoelectric elements and vertical transfer portions which are adjacent to said arrays of photoelectric elements, a photographing lens for forming a focused image of an object to be taken on said light receiving surface of said image pick-up device, release means for performing a release operation, and a diaphragm device having a diaphragm for adjusting the quantity of light incident upon said light receiving surface of said image pick-up device, said diaphragm being normally fully closed, so that said diaphragm device opens said diaphragm to a predetermined diaphragm value after commencement of said release operation and fully closes said diaphragm in accordance with a predetermined stop-down speed after completion of the exposure, wherein said image pick-up device comprises:
- smear detecting device for reading electric charges accumulated in each of said vertical transfer portions when said diaphragm is opened to a predetermined diaphragm value after said commencement of said release operation and for adding said read electric charges to compare a level of said added electrical charges with a predetermined level; and,
- control means for changing said stop-down speed of said diaphragm depending on said compared level of said added electrical charges.
- 2. A still video camera according to claim 1, wherein said control means closes said diaphragm at a high speed after said completion of the exposure when said smear detecting means detects that the level of said added electric charges is above said predetermined level.
- 3. A still video camera according to claim 1, wherein said control means closes said diaphragm at a normal speed after said completion of the exposure when said smear detecting device detects that the level of the added electric charges is not above said predetermined level.
- 4. A still video camera according to claim 1, further comprising a signal reading means for reading signal charges accumulated in said photoelectric elements of said image pick-up device.
- 5. A still video camera according to claim 4, wherein said control means closes said diaphragm at a high speed after said completion of the exposure when said smear detecting device detects that the level of said added electric charges is not above said predetermined level, and thereafter causes said signal reading means to read said signal charges.
- 6. A still video camera according to claim 4, wherein said control means causes said signal reading device to read said signal charges while closing the diaphragm at a low speed after said completion of the exposure when said smear detecting device detects that the level of said added electric charges is below said predetermined level.
- 7. A still video camera according to claim 1, wherein said smear detecting means reads said electric charges accumulated in said vertical transfer portions more than once at a predetermined time interval during said exposure operation.
- 8. A still video camera according to claim 7, wherein said smear detecting means adds said electric charges read by more than one reading for every vertical transfer portion.
