- 4. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said transparent material is a polymeric material.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said first fiber optic means includes a fiber optic cable for each of said predetermined locations, one end of each cable being mounted by a fiber optic connector means to the upper surface of said panel above one of said predetermined locations near said upwardly inclined end.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 3 further comprising:
- a tank for said liquid in which said fluid containing chamber is submerged; and
- means for creating a partial vacuum in said tank above said liquid.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 3 further comprising:
- means for producing a flow of water through said grooves to prevent said bubbles from adhering to said panel.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 3 further comprising:
- means for adding the number of electrical signals produced by said bubbles passing two or more adjacent predetermined locations; and
- means for indicating a leak from said chamber when the sum of said electrical signals exceeds a predetermined number.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said counting means comprises:
- means for amplifying said electrical signals;
- monostable multi-vibrator means for producing a timed pulse in response to the output from said amplifying means; and
- a counter for counting the number of pulses from said multi-vibrator means.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- said light radiation means includes a light radiation source positioned out of said liquid; and
- second fiber optic means for directing said light radiation from said source to said predetermined locations, a portion of said light radiation being directed across said predetermined locations toward said first fiber optic means.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- said deflecting means includes a panel having a corrugated lower surface of alternating parallel ridges and grooves extending across said panel, said panel being inclined upwardly in the direction of said grooves whereby rising bubbles travel through said grooves toward the upper end of said panel, said panel including means near said upper end for said bubbles to rise through said panel from said grooves, said predetermined locations being defined by the upper surface of said panel where said bubbles pass through said panel; and
- said light radiation means includes a light radiation source and second fiber optic means including a fiber optic cable for transmitting said light radiation from said source to said predetermined locations, a portion of said light radiation being directed across said predetermined locations toward said first fiber optic means whereby the light radiation received by said first fiber optic means is interrupted by bubbles passing said predetermined locations.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11 further comprising:
- means for adding the number of electrical signals produced by said bubbles passing two or more adjacent predetermined locations; and
- means for indicating a leak from said chamber when the sum of said electrical signals exceeds a predetermined number.
- 13. An apparatus for leak testing at least a portion of a fluid containing chamber by detecting bubbles of a gas rising from said portion when pressurized and submerged in a liquid comprising:
- means in said liquid above said chamber for deflecting said bubbles past one of a plurality of predetermined locations;
- photoelectric means in communication with said predetermined locations for detecting said bubbles passing said predetermined locations and producing an electrical signal in response thereto;
- means for counting the number of said electrical signals;
- said deflecting means including a panel of material having a corrugated surface of alternating parallel ridges and grooves extending in one direction along the bottom surface of said panel, said panel being inclined upwardly in said one direction enabling said rising bubbles to travel through said grooves past said upward end of said panel, said predetermined locations being in each of said grooves near said upwardly inclined end of said panel; and
- means for producing a flow of water through said grooves to prevent said bubbles from adhering to said panel.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein said water flow producing means includes a water pump for pumping said water and manifold means for directing said pumped water to at least one water outlet in each of said grooves at the lower end of said upwardly inclined panel.
- 15. An apparatus for leak testing at least a portion of a fluid containing chamber by detecting bubbles of a gas rising from said portion when pressurized and submerged in a liquid comprising:
- means in said liquid above said chamber for deflecting said bubbles past one of a plurality of predetermined locations;
- photoelectric means adjacent said predetermined locations for detecting said bubbles passing said predetermined locations and producing an electrical signal in response thereto;
- means for counting the number of said electrical signals;
- light radiation means adjacent said predetermined locations opposite said photoelectric detection means, said light radiation means including fiber optic means for directing light radiation from a light radiation source positioned out of said liquid to said predetermined locations, a portion of said light radiation being directed toward said photoelectric means.
