Claims
- 1. An apparatus for fabricating a reinforced polyurethane belt having a horizontally disposed table, a carrier member mounted on said table for movement in a longitudinal direction thereover, a take-up reel mounted on one end of said table for winding up said carrier member, the other end of said table having a reel device for storing said carrier member for movement onto and over said table, a box shaped molding device with solid side, front and rear surfaces mounted on said table, said molding device having a slit directed to said other end of said table on said front surface and an opening directed toward said one end of said table on said rear surface, a reciprocating mixing head mounted on said molding device for movement transversely to said longitudinal direction and for discharging polyurethane into said molding device and onto said carrier member for forming a conveyor belt thereon as said carrier member is advanced through and beyond said molding device, a feed device for continuously feeding a plurality of laterally spaced cords in a longitudinal direction through said slits into said box shaped molding device for reinforcing the polyurethane belt formed therein, and a cam device operatively interposed between said feed device and said slit for continuously imparting a wavy pattern to said cords that are continuously fed into said molding device to impart a serpentine disposition to said cords into said polyurethane belt being formed and cured on said carrier member.
- 2. An apparatus for fabricating a reinforced polyurethane belt as set forth in claim 1 wherein tension control means is connected adjacent to said cord feeding device to maintain a predetermined tension on said cords, and heating means connected to said table to heat said table and said carrier member to accelerate the cure of said polyurethane belt being formed.
- 3. An apparatus for fabricating a reinforced polyurethane belt as set forth in claim 2 wherein said cord feeding device includes a cord alignment device operated by said cam device for imparting a serpentine pattern to said cords as they are fed to said molding device.
- 4. An apparatus for fabricating a reinforced polyurethane belt as set forth in claim 3 wherein said carrier member has up-turned side portions that is cooperative with said side surfaces to retain said polyurethane in a predetermined thickness until said polyurethane cures.
- 5. An apparatus for fabricating a reinforced polyurethane belt as set forth in claim 3 wherein spaced guide means located between said molding device and said feeding device turns up the side portions of said carrier member in cooperation with said molding device and guide members on said table.
- 6. In an apparatus for fabricating a reinforced polyurethane belt having a table with a planar surface, a cord let-off device for feeding a plurality of cords in laterally spaced alignment in a longitudinal direction onto said table, a cord alignment device mounted on a guideway that is normal to said longitudinal direction, cam means connected to said cord alignment device for continuously reciprocating said cord alignment device on said guideway for feeding said aligned cords into a serpentine pattern as fed in a continuous longitudinal direction onto said table, a box type molding device with four wall surfaces and with a rearwardly disposed opening in one wall and a forwardly disposed slit in an oppositely disposed wall that is in alignment with said longitudinal direction, said molding device mounted on said table, a discharge device mounted at one end of said table for feeding a flexible carrier onto said table for movement between said table and said box-type molding device, a reciprocating mixing head mounted on said molding device for movement transversely to said longitudinal direction and for discharging polyurethane into said molding device and onto said carrier member, and a windup reel mounted at the other end of said table for pulling a formed polyurethane belt from said table as reinforced by cords fed through said slit into said molding device as fed by said reciprocating cord device to embed said cords into said belt in a serpentine pattern.
- 7. In an apparatus for fabricating a reinforced belt as set forth in claim 6 wherein heating means are mounted into said table for heating said table to accelerate the cure of said polyurethane material deposited on said carrier.
- 8. An apparatus for fabricating a reinforced belt as set forth in claim 7 wherein drive means are connected to said mixing head for reciprocating said head back and forth in a direction transverse to said longitudinal direction for discharging said polyurethane into said molding device to capture said serpentine pattern within said polyurethane.
