Claims
- 1. In an apparatus for orienting materials in a substantially polymeric material, said apparatus having means for orienting said material, the improvement wherein said apparatus comprises a centrifugal mold device comprising inner and outer cylinders defining a cylindrical chamber, and having support roller means and drive means operatively associated therewith, said centrifugal mold device supported for rotational movement on said roller means rotated by said drive means; and a cylindrical sleeve means formed from a plurality of field line generating means telescopically positionable over said centrifugal mold device.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 in which said field line generating means comprises a plurality of electromagnets having their north and south poles disposed in aligned relation in rows that are circumferentially disposed about the sleeve means so as to tend to orient material in a circumferential direction about the longitudinal axis of said centrifugal mold device.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 in which said field line generating means comprises a plurality of electromagnets having their north and south poles in aligned relation in rows that are circumferentially disposed about the sleeve means so as to tend to orient material in a circumferential direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of said centrifugal mold device.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like formed of material that is mainly polymeric material and comprising a tension section, a compression section, and a load-carrying section disposed intermediate said tension section and said compression section, said apparatus further having said means for orienting the material limited to orienting only part of said material of at least one of said sections, and comprising means for imposing the force of field line means thereon.
- 5. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 4 wherein said means for orienting causes said part of said material to be oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis of said belt construction.
- 6. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 4 wherein said means for orienting causes said part of said material to be oriented transverse to the longitudinal axis of said belt construction.
- 7. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 4 wherein said means for orienting causes at least part of the material of two of said sections to be oriented in different directions.
- 8. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 7 wherein said different directions are 90.degree. to each other.
- 9. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 8 wherein one of said two sections is said load-carrying section and has its said direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of said belt construction.
- 10. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 4 wherein said orienting means comprises magnet means.
- 11. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 4 wherein said orienting means comprises electromagnet means.
- 12. An apparatus for making an endless power transmission belt construction or the like as set forth in claim 4 wherein said orienting means comprises electric field means.
