Claims
- 1. A machine for manufacturing a composite material in the form of an annular tube by winding both a reinforcing fiber fabric and a sheet of matrix material on a mandrel, the machine comprising:
- a load-carrying structure comprising two uprights, the mandrel rotatably mounted between the two uprights;
- means for rotatably driving the mandrel;
- means for providing a reinforcing fiber fabric;
- means for providing a sheet of matrix material;
- means for combined fixing of the reinforcing fiber fabric and of the sheet of matrix material on the mandrel;
- means for tensioning the reinforcing fiber fabric and the sheet of matrix material while the reinforcing fiber fabric and the sheet of matrix material are being simultaneously wound on the mandrel;
- means for heating the composite material obtained by simultaneously winding the reinforcing fiber fabric and the sheet of matrix material on the mandrel, the means for heating disposed in a welding zone between the reinforcing fiber fabric and the sheet of matrix material; and
- means for cooling the mandrel while the reinforcing fiber fabric and the sheet of matrix material are being simultaneously wound on the mandrel.
- 2. A machine according to claim 1, wherein the heating means are implemented by a contact-less infrared device.
- 3. A machine according to claim 1, wherein the mandrel includes a slot extending substantially along its entire length for receiving the free ends of the reinforcing fiber fabric and of the sheet of matrix material.
- 4. A machine according to claim 1, wherein the cooling means comprises channels within the mandrel to enable a cooling fluid to circulate.
- 5. A machine according to claim 1, wherein the mandrel constitutes a preform for the composite material.
- 6. A machine according to claim 1, further including preheating means disposed upstream from the welding zone.
- 7. A machine according to claim 1, further including a presser device disposed downstream from the welding zone and designed to improve the pressure between the successive strata of the material.
- 8. A machine for manufacturing a composite material in the form of an annular tube by winding both a reinforcing fiber fabric and a sheet of matrix material on a mandrel, the machine comprising:
- a load-carrying structure comprising two uprights, the mandrel rotatably mounted between the two uprights;
- means for rotatably driving the mandrel;
- means for combined fixing of the reinforcing fiber fabric and of the sheet of matrix material on the mandrel;
- means for tensioning the fabric and the sheet while the fabric and the sheet are being simultaneously wound on the mandrel; and
- means for heating the composite material obtained by simultaneously winding the fabric and the sheet on the mandrel, the means for heating disposed in a welding zone between the fabric and the sheet, wherein the heating means are moved as a function of the increasing diameter of the tube of composite material by means of a pantograph assembly so that the distance between the heating means and the tube remains constant.
