Claims
- 1. A flexible extender arm for use with a coating measuring device, said flexible extender arm comprising:(a) an elongated, substantially rigid body portion; (b) a handle assembly connected to one end of said substantially rigid body portion; (c) a flexible portion connected to an opposite end of said substantially rigid body portion; (d) a coating measurement probe holder portion connected to an end of said flexible portion opposite said substantially rigid body portion; and (e) a pull connected at one end thereof to said substantially rigid body portion and connected at an opposite end thereof to said coating measurement probe holder portion.
- 2. The flexible extender arm according to claim 1, wherein a central axis of said coating measurement probe holder portion and a central axis of said substantially rigid body portion form an angle, and said angle is capable of being adjusted.
- 3. The flexible extender arm according to claim 2, wherein said angle ranges from 0 to about 135°.
- 4. The flexible extender arm according to claim 2, further comprising markings to indicate which direction the coating measurement probe holder portion is pointing, the depth of said coating measurement probe holder portion inside a hollow body, and said angle.
- 5. The flexible extender arm according to claim 1, wherein said substantially rigid body portion comprises an inner tube and an outer tube, and wherein said inner tube is in sliding relationship with said outer tube.
- 6. The flexible extender arm according to claim 5, wherein said flexible portion is connected to said inner tube and said pull is connected to said outer tube.
- 7. The flexible extender arm according to claim 5, wherein said handle assembly is connected to said inner tube and is in sliding relationship with said outer tube.
- 8. The flexible extender arm according to claim 7, wherein said handle assembly comprises a handle portion and a locking mechanism for temporarily fixing the position of the inner tube relative to the outer tube.
- 9. The flexible extender arm according to claim 1, further comprising a cavity for running electrical wires from said substantially rigid body portion to said coating measurement probe holder portion.
- 10. The flexible extender arm according to claim 1, wherein said coating measurement probe holder portion is adapted to hold a coating thickness gauge probe or an electrode assembly for making potentiodynamic polarization or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements.
- 11. A coating thickness measuring device comprising a hand-held coating thickness gauge, a flexible extender arm, and a coating thickness gauge probe, wherein said flexible extender arm comprises:(a) an elongated, substantially rigid body portion; (b) a handle assembly connected to one end of said substantially rigid body portion; (c) a flexible portion connected to an opposite end of said substantially rigid body portion; (d) a coating thickness gauge probe holder portion connected to an end of said flexible portion opposite said substantially rigid body portion; and (e) a pull connected at one end thereof to said substantially rigid body portion and connected at an opposite end thereof to said coating thickness gauge probe holder portion.
- 12. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 11, wherein a central axis of said coating thickness gauge probe holder portion and a central axis of said substantially rigid body portion form an angle, and said angle is capable of being adjusted.
- 13. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 12, wherein said angle ranges from 0 to about 135°.
- 14. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 12, further comprising markings to indicate which direction the coating thickness gauge probe holder portion is pointing, the depth of said coating thickness gauge probe holder portion inside a hollow body, and said angle.
- 15. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 11, wherein said substantially rigid body portion comprises an inner tube and an outer tube, and wherein said inner tube is in sliding relationship with said outer tube.
- 16. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 15, wherein said flexible portion is connected to said inner tube and said pull is connected to said outer tube.
- 17. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 15, wherein said handle assembly is connected to said inner tube and is in sliding relationship with the outer tube.
- 18. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 17, wherein said handle assembly comprises a handle portion and a locking mechanism for temporarily fixing the position of the inner tube relative to the outer tube.
- 19. The coating thickness measuring device according to claim 11, further comprising a cavity for running electrical wires from said substantially rigid body portion to said coating thickness gauge probe holder portion.
