Claims
- 1. An apparatus for automatically casting concrete elements, comprising a plurality of primary mold cavities, means for carrying said plurality of primary mold cavities having open mold tops and drive means operatively connected to said carrying means for stepping said carrying means in a timed sequence into cooperation with a plurality of operating stations comprising a first main station including a solid heating device having a flat surface for contacting and uniformly heating a thermoplastic film portion located on said open mold top, said flat surface having an area corresponding at least to the surface area of said open mold top for closing said open mold top when a thermoplastic film portion is being heated, means for evacuating air from said primary mold cavities to pull a heated thermoplastic film portion into said primary mold cavity, for forming a secondary mold in said primary mold cavity, means for removing said heating device from said primary mold cavity thereby opening said secondary mold, a second main station including means for filling concrete mix into said open secondary mold inside said primary mold cavity, a third main station including means for removing a filled secondary mold from a primary mold cavity, and means for controlling said stepping drive means to provide a dwell time for each of said stations such that said removing of a filled secondary mold takes place prior to any substantially noticeable or effective hardening of said concrete mix, and wherein said means for removing a filled secondary mold from a primary mold cavity comprise a rigid suction pipe connectable to a source of reduced pressure, means connected to said rigid suction pipe for moving said suction pipe back and forth between a secondary mold pick-up position and a secondary mold discharge position, lifting plate means connected to a lower end of said rigid suction pipe for contacting a rim of said secondary mold to engage said secondary mold rim in a suction tight manner, and means for controlling an application of reduced pressure through said suction pipe and through said lifting plate means for holding said secondary mold with its content to said lifting plate means when said secondary mold with its content is removed out of the respective primary mold cavity.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a reduced pressure seal gasket surrounding a downwardly facing surface of said lifting plate means in a position for contacting said secondary mold rim.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said means for controlling an application of reduced pressure comprise a valve and means for operating said valve, said valve operating means being located on said means for moving said rigid suction pipe within reach of an operator.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said first main station comprises means for transporting and repeatedly pulling a continuous web of said thermoplastic film onto said open mold top of a primary mold cavity on said carrying means, hold down means for holding a free end of said web ready for the next pulling step, and cutting means for cutting off a portion from said continuous web.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising pneumatic pressure supply means, and wherein said primary mold cavities comprise mold walls with perforations therein, enclosure means enclosing said perforated mold walls for forming chamber around said perforations, first connecting means connecting said evacuating means to said chamber, and second connecting means for connecting said pneumatic pressure supply means to said chamber when said evacuating means are disconnected and vice versa.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said solid heating device comprises a perforated plate forming said flat surface, electrical heating means arranged for heating said perforated plate to a uniform temperature over the entire area of said flat surface, and venting channels in said electrical heating means communicating with said perforated plate for facilitating the release of a heated film portion from said flat surface.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said second main station comprises means for compacting concrete mix in said secondaray mold while the secondary mold is still in said primary mold cavity.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a first auxiliary station located next to said carrying means downstream of said first main station as viewed in the stepping direction of said carrying means, said first auxiliary station comprising means for filling a first type of concrete mix into said secondary mold, said apparatus further comprising a second auxiliary station including compacting means located next to said carrying means downstream of said first auxiliary station for compacting said first type of concrete mix in said second auxiliary station, said second main station being located next to said second auxiliary station for filling a second type of concrete mix into said secondary mold, said second main station including means for compacting said second type of concrete mix in said secondary mold while said secondary mold is still in said primary mold, and wherein said third main station for removing is arranged downstream of said second main station as viewed in the stepping direction of said carrying means.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a third auxiliary station including air pressure supply means arranged between said second main station and said third main station, for loosening a secondary mold filled with compacted concrete mix, from said primary mold cavity.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein at least said second main station comprises a dosing device for charging an exactly measured quantity of concrete mix each time into said secondary mold in said primary mold cavity.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said second main station comprises a dosing device including a dosing plate (105), a filling box (115) slidably supported by said dosing plate, said filling box holding an excess volume of concrete mix, said dosing plate having an opening above an open mold cavity on said carrying means, said opening having a cross-sectional area corresponding approximately to that of said mold activity, said dosing plate having such a thickness that a defined additional volume of concrete mix fits into said opening in said dosing plate, said excess volume of concrete mix being sufficient to fill said mold cavity and said additional volume in said dosing plate, so that said compacting means can compact said concrete mix for substantially completely filling said secondary mold with compacted concrete mix when the compacting is completed.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said means for filling concrete mix into said open secondary mold comprise a dosing apparatus including a dosing cylinder having an opening at one end thereof for discharging concrete mix, a filling hopper arranged for communicating with said dosing cylinder through a slot, and piston means movable in said dosing cylinder for pushing concrete mix out of said opening at said one end of said dosing cylinder.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 12, further comprising rotatable wiper means operatively mounted in said filling hopper for driving concrete mix through said slot out of said hopper means into said dosing cylinder.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein said dosing apparatus is located in said second main station.
- 15. An apparatus for automatically casting concrete elements, comprising means for carrying a plurality of primary mold cavities having open mold tops and drive means operatively connected to said carrying means for stepping said carrying means in a timed sequence into cooperation with a plurality of operating stations comprising a first main station including a solid heating device having a flat surface for contacting and uniformly heating a thermoplastic film portion located on said open mold top, said flat surface having an area corresponding at least to the surface area of said open mold top for closing said open mold top when a thermoplastic film portion is being heated, means for evacuating air from said primary mold cavities to pull a heated thermoplastic film portion into said primary mold cavity for forming a secondary mold in said primary mold cavity, means for removing said heating device from said primary mold cavity thereby opening said secondary mold, a second main station including means for filling concrete mix into said open secondary mold inside said primary mold cavity, said second station including means for compacting said concrete mix, a third main station including means for removing a filled secondary mold from a primary mold cavity, and means for controlling said stepping drive means to provide a required dwell time for each of said stations such that said removing of a filled secondary mold takes place pior to any substantially noticeable or effective hardening of said concrete mix, wherein said means for filling comprise a dosing device including a dosing plate (105), said dosing plate being horizontally fixed relative to said compacting means, a filling box (115) slidably supported by said dosing plate, said filling box holding an excess volume of concrete mix, said dosing plate having an opening above an open mold cavity on said carrying means, said opening having a cross-sectional area corresponding approximately to that of said mold cavity, said dosing plate having such a thickness that a defined additional volume of concrete mix fits into said opening in said dosing plate, said excess volume of concrete mix being sufficient to fill said mold cavity and said additional volume in said dosing plate, so that said compacting means can compact said concrete mix for substantially completely filling said secondary mold with compacted concrete mix when compacting is completed.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein said first main station comprises means for transporting and repeatedly pulling a continuous web of said thermoplastic film onto said open mold top of a primary mold cavity on said carrying means, hold down means for holding a free end of said web ready for the next pulling step, and cutting means for cutting off a portion from said continuous web.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 15, further comprising pneumatic pressure supply means, and wherein said primary mold cavities comprise mold walls with perforations therein, enclosure means enclosing said perforated mold walls for forming a chamber around said perforations, first connecting means connecting said evacuating means to said chamber, and second connecting means for connecting said pneumatic pressure supply means to said chamber when said evacuating means are disconnected and vice versa.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein said solid heating device comprises a perforated plate forming said flat surface, electrical heating means arranged for heating said perforated plate to a uniform temperature over the entire area of said flat surface, and venting channels in said electrical heating means communicating with said perforated plate for facilitating the release of a heated film portion from said flat surface.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein said second main station comprises means for compacting concrete mix in said secondary mold while the secondary mold is still in said primary mold cavity.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 15, further comprising a first auxiliary station located next to said carrying means downstream of said first main station as viewed in the stepping direction of said carrying means, said first auxiliary station comprising further means for filling a first type of concrete mix into said secondary mold, said apparatus further comprising a second auxiliary station including compacting means located next to said carrying means downstream of said first auxiliary station for compacting said first type of concrete mix in said second auxiliary station, said second main station being located next to said second auxiliary station for filling a second type of concrete mix into said secondary mold, said main station including means for compacting said second type of concrete mix in said secondary mold while said secondary mold is still in said primary mold, wherein said third main station for removing is arranged downstream of said second main station as viewed in the stepping direction of said carrying means, and wherein said means for removing in said third main station include suction means for removing a filled secondary mold from said primary mold cavity by suction.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 20, further comprising a third auxiliary station including air pressure supply means arranged between said second main station and said third main station, for loosening a secondary mold filled with compacted concrete mix, from said primary mold cavity.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 20, wherein said further means for filling concrete mix into said open secondary mold comprise a dosing apparatus including a dosing cylinder having an opening at one end thereof for discharging said first type of concrete mix into said secondary mold, and wherein a filling hopper is arranged for communicating with said dosing cylinder through a slot, and piston means movable in said dosing cylinder for pushing concrete mix out of said opening at said one end of said dosing cylinder.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 22, further comprising rotatable wiper means operatively mounted in said filling hopper for driving concrete mix through said slot out of said hopper means into said dosing cylinder.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 15, further comprising means for permitting a substantially vertical movement of said dosing plate.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein said means for removing a filled secondary mold from a primary mold cavity comprise a rigid suction pipe connectable to a source of reduced pressure, means connected to said rigid suction pipe for moving said suction pipe back and forth between a secondary mold pick-up position and a secondary mold discharge position, lifting plate means connected to a lower end of said rigid suction pipe for contacting a rim of said secondary mold to engage said secondary mold rim in a suction tight manner, and means for controlling an application of reduced pressure through said suction pipe and through said lifting plate means for holding said secondary mold with its content to said lifting plate means when said secondary mold with its content is removed out of the respective primary mold cavity.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 25, further comprising a reduced pressure seal gasket surrounding a downwardly facing surface of said lifting plate means in a position for contacting said secondary mold rim.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 25, wherein said means for controlling an application of reduced pressure comprise a valve and means for operating said valve, said valve operating means being located on said means for moving said rigid suction pipe within reach of an operator.
