- 7. The structure of claim 4 wherein: the locking means includes tab means protruding from the side of the first end section and disposed to facilitate threading of the first end section into a socket but jamming the threads of the socket to prevent removal of the adapter from the socket.
- 8. The structure of claim 4 wherein: the locking means comprises a spring located within the tubular member and locking finger means cooperating with the spring whereby the spring biases the finger means to a locking position, said tubular member having a hole for accommoding said locking finger means.
- 9. The structure of claim 8 wherein: the spring has an inwardly projected portion adapted to be engaged by the adapter mounting and remover means, said adapter mounting and remover means being operable to move the spring and retract the locking finger means to a non-locking position.
- 10. The structure of claim 4 wherein: the first electrical conductor means comprises an elongated means of electrically conductive material, said first end section having a first groove for accommodating a first part of the elongated means and said internal threaded cavity of the second end section having a second groove for accommodating a second part of the elongated means whereby said elongated means is engageable with a side portion of the electrically conductive portion of the socket and the side portion of the sleeve of the bulb.
- 11. The structure of claim 4 wherein: the threaded first end section has right hand threads adapted to mate with the threaded cavity of a conventional electrical socket, said threaded wall of the second end section having internal left hand threads for accommodating a left hand threaded sleeve of a light bulb.
- 12. An adapter for mounting and electrically connecting a light bulb having an electrically conductive sleeve to a conventional electrical socket and apparatus for selectively mounting or removing the adapter from the socket comprising: a tubular member having a threaded first end section adapted to mate with the threaded cavity of a conventional electrical socket, said first end section having locking means for locking the adapter in the socket to prevent its removal, said tubular member having a second end section, said second end section having an internal threaded wall forming an adapter cavity for accommodating the threaded sleeve of a light bulb, said tubular member further including first electrical conductor means extended between the first end section and engageable with a portion of the socket and the second end section engageable with a portion of the sleeve to provide an electrical connection between said end sections and the socket and the sleeve of the bulb, second electrical conductor means insulatively mounted on the tubular member adapted to contact the center of the base of the bulb in the center of the socket, and adapter mounting and remover means engageable with the locking means to release the locking means and tubular member having coacting means which cooperate so that on rotation of the adapter mounting and remover means after the locking means is released the adapter is rotated to thereby selectively mount and remove the adapter from the socket.
- 13. The structure of claim 12 wherein: the adapter remover means includes a body adapted to be located in the adapter cavity, and a lip attached to the body, said lip engagable with the locking means to release the locking means from the socket.
- 14. The structure of claim 13 wherein: the lip has a tapered surface engagable with the locking means to release the locking means from the socket.
- 15. The structure of claim 12 wherein: the coacting means includes a slot in the adapter mounting and removing means for accommodating a portion of the body of the adapter to facilitate the rotation of the adapter by the adapter mounting and removing means.
